Imagine
In the early morning hours
Fog rising from the rivers & spreading out over the surrounding areas
varying in intensity from a visibility of 150 units down to practically zero visibility

Wouldn't that lend the game new tactical elements & new excitement?

Shouldn't be that hard or expensive to implement either, it's just a filter of varying intensity & an easy graphical effect.

Spoken like a true city-dweller. My grandfather's pasture at night makes DAoC's notion of night look bright...

just turn up your brightness and/or contrast, you will be able to see absolutely fine. But I prefer to actually leave it, the lack of visibility looks cool at night, and somewhat realistic.

I would love the idea of fog as well.. but they don't have resources to implement graphical changes to the game now..

Ya, fog would be really cool especially if it were implemented with modern graphics. And there could be different levels of fog, where the extreme kind happen more rarely. It would be an interesting and realistic tactical variable.

The clip range is allready reduced for terrain and structures in rainy times, would it be too hard to implement a figure clip range reduction during foggy/rainy weather?

It would be kind of like the way it is with stealthers. The game draws them on your screen when they are in clip range, just invisibly. Something along the function of this might be doable, you think?

However, just imagine the popping into range lag that might be induced from two groups running headlong into each other at speed 6!

Yes I know, but it's a pain in the ass to have to do that when I play DAOC then turn it back to levels that are fine for everything else I do with my computer when I'm done.
