Come up with something new if you can’t commit to DAOC. Hell we poured/are pouring our hearts and souls into Warhammer and did the best we could. Now come talk to us, ask us what WE think went wrong and where we want to go. Let’s start again. Look at UO and DAOC now, for those of you who are fans, we have some of the best talent in those games now. Calvin and Stuart have assembled amazing teams and are still creating awesome content and ideas. Our two oldest games are our money makers. We did something right there and we need to rediscover it.
IMO, screw WAR, commit to DAOC.

I want to shake the hand of the brave soul that actually goes up to an EA or Bioware decision maker and tells them... "Lets abandon the new game we just spend $100 million developing and put our resources into the 9 and 13 year old MMOs that barely have any subscribers left."
Because as a DAOC fan, I'll respect that guy, but it'll also probably be the last time anyone will ever see him alive.
Warhammer just feels unfixably screwed to me. A lot of their problems are restrictions because of the intellectual property of the game. Apparently Mythic can't just add a third realm and make it a proper RvR game. Because I guess GWS's Warhammer isn't a 3 way thing.
Mythic can tweak Warhammer until the cows come home, make love in the barn, give birth to baby cows, and the baby cows go off and come back home, and I'm not sure I'd consider playing it until they just ripped down the RvR that exists and completely replace it with something... fun. I was so excited for Warhammer, but the RvR just wasn't fun.
But as bleak as I think Warhammer is. I just can't imagine anyone at EA or Bioware putting it aside to focus on DAOC or UO.
For the love of all that is holy, I do wish EA or Bioware would just make a new UO game though. So many bad decisions have left UO in shambles. We need a REAL Ultima game. There are no freaking elves or Ninjas in Ultima. And stick with fantasy, no futuristic Ultima either.

WAR has missed it's opportunity to strip down and make an "NF" and its community is in complete shambles. DAoC has a solid core and community. It doesn't seem like a hard decision to me.

I agree, I've been messing around on the Warhammer 14 day trial thing and while the game itself has it's pros, they don't out weigh the cons.
I mean in Warhammer it's easier to do stuff by yourself (in a way you get thrown into the mix even if your solo.)
You don't have to have a buffbot which is a bit of a pain in the ass for me at least.
Although it's a 2 faction game the classes have their own uniqueness that makes it fun.
Public quests are really fun way to PvE as long as you don't find yourself grinding them.
Having said that...
The End Game result for War is boring to the core.
The Melee system in War leaves alot to be desired, esp if your coming from DaoC.
Game feels way to much like it did as much as possible to steal players from WoW who like PvP.
When it comes right down to it no matter how novel and unique classes might be the 2 faction system is a boring tug of war. It has no spice to it.
I've been trying real hard to like something about War enough to make me want to stick it out with that game for a while, but it's just not happening.

DAoC needs a v 2.0 with a box on the shelf. It's the only way to produce the tens of millions of dollars to justify the work.

I'd like to know why the decision was made to abandon a DAoC 2?, If there ever was one to make?

Warhammer's IP supports each army against all the others actually. The only alliance in the actual IP are with the Empire and Dwarfs. So yes, the IP supports three realms or more fighting each other. Blame Mythic not wanting three realms, not GW.

No clue. Speculation is the only thing we as fans can do.
Maybe Daoc 2.0 always got pushed off the table due to the addons or maybe the roundtable never considered doing it since "the game was fine" back then. ToA still and always will be known as a backfire product though ^^.

My favourite early ToA moment was when the BG was stuck on a ML step, I went out, drove 15 minutes, got a haircut, drove back 15 mins and did not miss a single step of the ML.
The entire BG was in the same damn spot for over 45 minutes. Classic!
That being said, I actually enjoyed ToA when it was tough. I guess I am a masochist.

In WAR, I liked that everyone was "considered" to be the same level in the (what?) instance PvP battleground thingy. Sure you didn't have the best spells and equipment, but at least you weren't one-hit-and-dead fodder.
