And nothing has changed; in fact if you collect and read all the patch notes for the last three years you will see that - for all intents and purposes - nothing has changed (except the lag is worse for some people).
As someone who recently came back after an absence of 3-4 years, I couldn't disagree more, DAOC has changed a lot. TOA has been nerfed to the point where you can get ml10 + lvl artis entirely solo if you want, numerous classes have changed (buffed/nerfed) significantly, rvr metagame has changed greatly, your old template is now close to worthless, and ywain actually has a pretty decent pop going (as opposed to 3-4 years ago clusters were close to ghost towns). Also because of the age of the game, there are a lot more rr10+ around than there used to be. You can also realm hop at will, there is no timer and no restriction on having chars in all 3 realms on the same server.
On the downside: the UI still sucks, the herald is way out of date (download charplan for up to date spells/styles), and there is quite bit of price inflation for coveted items, so if you want a top tier template it's going to cost you. seems to me like the PVP

VE pop balance has shifted slightly more toward the PVE side, which i didn't expect -- i could be wrong about that though cause currently am doing (read: forced to do) PVE atm.
that's all i can think of atm.
