I miss Caledonia.... that was the old 30-35 right? It went to 35 when there were only the 3 battlegrounds IIRC.


When I'm leveling my toons from 25-35 I sometimes wonder how it came to be that Thidranki and Molvik are the only BGs that are really populated. I like the double exp bonus for killing mobs in the BGs in between, but TDs are probably still faster overall. I'd still rather gain exp killing enemy realms than doing TDs or farming mobs.


I can kind of understand Thidranki, simply because it used to be the lowest level BG, so a lot of players had BG alts in Thidranki. Even though there are lower level options available now, it doesn't take very long to get to 20-24, and you actually start to get some fun/useful styles/spells by your 20's. For those reasons I can see why Hills of Claret and Killaloe are pretty void.


I just never understood why the 25-29 and 30-34 battlegrounds were empty. I level out of Thidranki, I want to keep killing people! They're like ghosttowns though...

It used to be thid/leirvik (lowest and highest) but when they changed leirvik most people just started playing in molvik instead.


I never really liked BGs tbh. I had a lot of fun in molvik back on classic when me and some friends ran a 4man grp and there were a bunch of other decent smallmans in there as well though.
The main problems for me is that casting is painfully slow (especially in thid) and that the "maps" are soooo boring (especially molvik).

Originally it was Abermenai, 15-19, Thidranki, 20-24, something else for 25-29, and Caledonia 30-35. With NF came the redo that resulted in the 1-14 and 35-44 BGs (CV didn't come till later). Thidranki is the most popular because it always had the most action due to /level. Back when it took quite a while to get to 24, /level 20 made Thid the most popular by far. The servers that got /level 30 also made Caledonia relatively popular.

Actually, Caledonai was the first BG, then they added Thidranki and muraigean. They later they addrd the BG's as we know them now.

the Current BG's were put in when NF went live in 2004, now they have had keep upgrades, bridge upgrades and map upgrades, but the 10 current bg's have been in since NF.


and it was Dun Murdigan(spelling) which was the 25-29 BG


Note: When there was only thid, Murd, and Caledonia, all the maps were the same, only thing that changed were the keep realms, and the direction/Bridge they faced

I'm not gonna say it has Molvik or Thid level action, but lately (since the Aurulite quests) I have seen some decent numbers in Killaloe (Level 15-19 RR1L2) and to an even lesser extent Claret (Level 11-14). You won't come across anything huge but will be able to find some small-man group action and even be able to solo fairly effectively. The keep changes hands often enough as well...


Molvik (Level 35-39 RR2L9)is probably the highest right now for good, solid action at just about anytime (after Beatboxin and Keeper take the keep early morning U.S. time it dies down a bit.)


Thid (Level 20-24 RR1L4)is pretty good too; mids almost always have ck though so try'n find a good roaming group.


I really haven't been to the other BGs lately...well other than for the Cathal Weekends a little while back.

the new pve quests in the first battlegrounds (from lv10 to 24) gave the other BG's before thidranki some action, i hope mythic put these quests in the rest of BG's.

Recovered some bossiney molvik footage from my old harddrive after it crashed. There are no 4v4 fights in the vid, but i think we fought at least 8 in all the clips.
