Hey guys.

I am a new player going through for my first time. I went through the tutorial and did the bg repeatables and my epic quest line and so far it has been great. I PvPed a little bit in Thid had some fun, but now that I dinged 25 and there are no more repeatables in the BGs. I am wondering whats next.

Should be I grinding in the instances in the vendo caverns (I am mid)? Or should I be questing somewhere. OR perhaps farming aurulite in a dungeon? (be specific) I think when I ding 30 I can start my MLs... Should I be in ToA when I ding 30? Are there any quests/noteworthy things I should do (even if they dont level me fast, I want to experience some of the funner/more unique things daoc has to offer)

I seen a post for levels 1-24 that was very helpful I was wondering if you guys could put together a 25-50 for the new/returning player.

thanks

Make some friends and get power leveled. ML's begin at 40 not 30.

XPing IMO was fun like 10 years ago now its boring, get 50 and go RVR, PVP or PVE depending on what you like...

do you have any level 50s?

Or are you just returning to the game for the first time?

Ignore the above, please.

Since you are a NEW player...and it is your FIRST time through.

I recommend against the Power Level route. Learn to play your class as it levels up. The differences in a level 24, 39 and 50 character can be huge.

Since Braemar and Wilton (the level 25-29 and 30-34)BGs are largely unpopulated it is a fairly safe place to get experience (The trees in Braemar and the underwater koalinth in wilton.) Plus you'll run into a few players here and there every so often.

Task Dungeons are by far the quickest (solo) route to go through and even give out a decent amount of cash; so that's the recommendation.

Seeing the world a bit is never bad; and grinding in the dungeons of the world can help you react to certain situations (roaming monsters, line of sight issues, etc.)

Whichever path you choose, I recommend doing so until level 39; then turning off your exp for a while and hanging out in Molvik until Realm Rank 2L9. You'll get some good realm abilities to work with to help round out your character and you can experiment with which ones work best for you. Outfitting for Molvik will also give you some idea of what it will be like to get a template together for your character.

After Molvik; it's a beeline to 50. Task Dungeons again are quick; but after level 47 the "Stealing Supplies" quest is great(for stealthers.)

At this point (Level 40+), I'd say you know the ins and outs of your character well enough to go ahead and find a Rassa Group.

Either way; you should arrive at 50 very soon.

People will have other opinions, but this is my recommendation for a first time, new player.

Every player should experience levelling at least one char without PLing.

Learn your class, learn where to exp, go to the BG's, join a guild and make friends - no bugger talks in a Rassa PL group !

25-29; Should be done in Braemar without a question. There is hardly ever anyone in there (one of 6 BG's like this) and the trees provide great xp. Also the Night Hobs that roam around there, there are several great camps throughout Braemar; drop decent loot per kill in pure gold. And chance of them dropping armor. Double XP here makes it very valuable as an XP spot.

30-35; Should NOT be done in Wilton. The XP spots in Wilton are not automatic. I.E. in Braemar, you can sit in the same place for one hour and continuously pull mobs. In Wilton the mobs are very spread out (in water even) and some of the terrain mobs (little crocodiles) hit like purple con mobs. I suggest heading out to the frontier.
One classic thing that hasn't changed since this game came out: Snow Crabs! These mobs will be OJ/Red to you at 30 probably and can be found North of Fens Watchtower and West of Fens Outpost. Best part about killing these mobs is: A) You get great xp (double because of RvR area) B) They drop their claws from time to time.
Each time you get a snow crab claw, store it in the back of your pack (so you don't sell it) and at some point of time, head out to Vasudheim and give Mildri(NPC) the claws for some additional XP. This can be done until level 39, with a maximum of 20 claws.
If the snow crabs becomes too easy and you're cleaning out the camp too quickly, or they con blue and are not giving the same amount of xp; head East from that location, to the other side of Fens Outpost. From the clearing there, you should be able to see some forest area to your south. Head down that way and within the brush, you should find Fensir Pups. These little guys are great, great xp, decent loot (they all drop pure gold/silver, with additional sell items, and even some equipment from time-to-time) and of course, no down time.

36-39; You have a choice within these levels, either continue killing the pups, because they're worth great xp until 39. OR head out to Molvik. The camps of Arawnites (great xp, the melee mobs hit a bit hard, might be the only issue... and they do call for help from time-to-time) are located in between Mib/Alb and Hib/Alb PKs. There are trees in between the hib/mid PK's which are also good, but I believe they act like most tree mobs, and heal themselves... which can be a pain for low DPS Xping classes.
IF you choose to head to Molvik, and train off of Arawnites, the issue is sure to come up: Sorcerer, Minstrel (ESPECIALLY THESE) or Mentalists coming to snag a Arawnite Shaman. They'll try to do this periodically. And each of these classes, especially mincers, can be a real pain to kill at this level... especially if you're low on power/health from XPing.

At 39, you have the option to stay and RvR.
I have personally made it a goal, to never to Molvik RvR again; except on: Charge Tanks, Speed 6 classes or Fully templated Assassins.
This is because most of the people who still play molvik constantly play these classes, and in Molvik... they are perhaps the worst things to deal with in the game. Because at the moment the present quest is available, I'd suggest rolling Molvik, until you want to pull your hair out. So if you're having a great time, stay there until the game kicks you out (do /xp off if you're nearing level 40). But if you're like, rolling out just to get smashed over and over, I'd suggest just leaving... because I have known many people who play a toon until Molvik, get rolled over and over, and just decide they don't want to play it anymore.
Just don't get frustrated, and everything will be okay.

At this point of the year, the PRESENT! quest is available. Doing this in Leirvik can make up the RPs lost in Molvik; however, this quest is probably ending soon. So... Don't rely on it.

After 40, you should be doing repeatable quests, obtained from the barkeep in Vasudheim. I know some people would rather stab themselves in the jaw then run this quest... but it's the best money you can probably make when first starting this game. At over 100g a pop.
You can continue to do this quest, with breaks from it... by doing Commander/Lieutenant quests (from Jordheim main hall) as well as travelling down to the Catacombs and checking out the quests they offer there.

Anyways, good luck!

the mid 40s used to be hell. but nowadays, you rarely need to kill mobs anymore. With the dragon quests, catacombs quests, luitenants/commander quests, and SI quests you are good to go.

I only did the melting the ice/stealing supplies when i couldnt finish off a level with other quests and i couldnt stand to grind mobs anymore.

There are 2 artifacts in TOA that you should try and get Gem of Lost memories and Belt of Orion. Both of those items are very close to each other and are relatively easy to get, heck if you have some friends you could just ask them to give you the stuff with their BP's.

Anyway the 2 items mentioned are very powerful for pre-50 players and have some nice bonuses.

For sure with this.
I remember when getting a level was a few days of work ;o). But those times are long gone haha (and good riddance, game pop would go to single digits if they reinstated it). I only suggest the melting the ice and some of the dragon ones later on; based solely on money obtained from the quests. I know on Mid I won't do them, because I'm plat capped a few times over, but when you have one toon to your name on a realm and no money... it gets kinda tough.

Especially once the 50 ding occurs. Then you have the choice to either farm for the next two weeks or farm for the next few days and buy the rest of the Template. I forgot to mention (I was in quite a hurry to skedaddle from my home, darn families and their getting together) at level 45 you should have a general idea of a template. The VN boards are a so-so place for templates (I find I use a lot of them to build my own) because they generally match a certain play-style (like a solo template loaded up with half a dozen toys, but without really percolating stats).

My suggestion is when you get to about 40-44, you should take a look through the class boards for which ever class you play and look at templates. Find some that are within your pay range (no point if you're playing a chain wearer to load up a template full of astral loot, because you won't have the plat for it by the time you're 50), and find items that are used for each one. So in many melee classes you'll see Shades of Mist, you might want to jot that down; or Bracer of Zo'arkat for any seer/caster template. Then get yourself Gearbunny and play around with the items with your character sitting in front of the consignment merchant in housing (so that you can look up an item, and then check it out in-game to see if it's affordable).
Doing this will enable you to decide where the rest of your leveling should be done. If your template requires 6-10 dragon-drop items, you might want to think of moving to Malm and grinding the levels off for some scales. Or if the template is artifact heavy, and you don't have any friends that are BP rich; you can move your little base-camp over to ToA.

Whenever I deal with people who are just starting, or coming back from 5-6 years off, these are things I always suggest. Remember, that first template doesn't have to be the greatest thing ever made, but it enables you to compete a little in NF.
