3 factions is the only reason DAOC even still exists. Its the reason War failed. No one else is really doing that. If World of Warcraft would just let the dang forsaken break free of the horde and be its own faction there would be zero reason to play DAOC anymore.
That is not why WAR failed. Sure, it created a host of issues and added to the downfall in it's own right...but I wouldn't even put it on the top 5 reasons why the game failed.

3 realms was certainly part of why DAOC was so great. But, the game was solid in many areas on the RvR/PvP front.

DaoC needs more ML10 type Laby but outdoors PvPvE (3 p's if you concider all realms) but yes PvP with only two sides = less fun

Warhammer did not fail due to the lack of 3 realms, it failed because Mythic developed it.
DAoC was a fluke, it was released in an anemic MMO market when peeps were more willing to tolerate rinky-dink, unfinished products.
In the 21st century, that crap is not going to fly...
DAoC has decent PvP, for sure, but as for having the best PvP, that is highly subjective.

40+ distinct classes, the setting in real world mythology, the (relatively) mature community, three realms, a reason to PvP within the storyline, housing, hooded cloaks and dyed armor, realistic v. cartoony graphics...
The game is far from perfect. Swings between the OP and the nerf, the facepalm that was ToA upon launch and countless other things come to mind.
But in the end, I always go back to DAoC. Not a fluke.
