From a recent Producer's Letter, Stuart Zissu says:

"Well, we've been aggressively investigating performance and lag issues with a special focus on what is commonly referred to as "lag ghosting". We realize that things like ghosting can have a negative impact on your RvR experience, so we're going to be devoting very valuable Engineering resources to resolving it in addition to other persisting performance concerns."

Perhaps if folks can post the issues they are having with lag in this thread, it can provide Mythic with some information. Try to be as descriptive (and civil) as you can. When it happened, what zone or zones it is happening in.

If you have done any ping or tracert tests on Mythic's gateway (206.112.64.6), provide a copy of the results.

Heya,

I had huge lag issues last night but havent played today so I cant speak for how bad it is today.

I did an mtr to check the delays and/or packet loss from me (Sweden) to Mythics gate.

No loss and reponse times were what you can expect for that distance. Looked very good tbh.

The problem with any new MMO is that it sucks compared to DAoC

2-3 second lag in all zones.

Time Warner Roadrunner, New York.

Monday morning, pretty much zero lag. Approach 11 am eastern, lag was 2-3 seconds for me. This is when action in DF started to get high.

Off peak times are usually fine. But anything later in the day, eastern time, it is unplayable.

And when I say 2-3 second lag, NOTHING happens for 2-3 seconds. Then everything happens at once when the lag spike passes.

It is SPIKES that are the problem.

Stable at ~100-120ms from sweden.

if it was mythic's gateway or close to it, wouldn't the other servers lag too? They don't. I think it is just that the Ywain server is over-utilized, under-powered, misconfigured, or daoc server's code isn't efficient, etc.
