This is being addressed in the January Producer's Letter

So where to start? Well, we've been aggressively investigating performance and lag issues with a special focus on what is commonly referred to as "lag ghosting". We realize that things like ghosting can have a negative impact on your RvR experience, so we're going to be devoting very valuable Engineering resources to resolving it in addition to other persisting performance concerns.

Yup, I saw that in the letter, but nothing in the current patch notes. My point being, this should be a top priority for overall improvement of everyone's gaming experience, not RR5 changes as the primary focus.

We'll see.

Lag ghosting is really annoying. Can deal with it when I can click the ghost and it disapears.
But lately when I click the ghost it remains.

We'll see.

I would agree, often it seems that Mythic is not focused on what really needs to be addressed.

But, at the same time we must also realize:

Everyone on a team is not a quarterback.

Everyone on a team is not a center.

Everyone on a team is not a wide receiver.

Everyone on a team is not . . . .

Everyone that works for Mythic does not necessarily have the expertise to be focused on “How to fix lag issues”. Should all the others (granted the few others) but should all the others sit and do nothing while they wait to see what the “lag issues” team (edit: "lag issues" person) comes up with?

Modifying the RRs is probably not the one thing that will save the game or the one thing that should have all the focus of Mythic, but Mythic has said they do have (or will have) “valuable Engineering resources” addressing the lag issue. Lets hope that with MJ gone they actually mean what they say and they are not just spouting wishful thinking of what may someday happen.

semi has it right, the lag issue is a code level problem for sure, and it requires extensive network knowledge, so mythic is unlikely to have many qualified people to fix the problem.(1 person probly borrowed from another project most likely)

but RR changes isnt code level.. its just changing values in a database.. with very minimal programming experience/knowledge required..

so its easy to work on both things at the same time...

Well, the last time they tried to fix the lag, just before Christmas, their "fix" broke the server so bad they had to do an emergency rollback. Not to mention it caused Ywain2's housing to disappear. I think I'd rather wait for them to get it right.

Thanks for that perspective Semi, good stuff.

Rumor has it that some users on some ISPs are experiencing no lag. Conspiracy!

Not Code Based for the RR5 changes? you're kidding right? Yea PART of it will be changing values in the DB but Adding more levels to each one and or adding additional abilities to some means code changes. Also with additional lvls means DB changes as well, new fields, new table elements etc......

NOT as simple as changing a few numbers and being done

Isn't this a professional game company charging $14.05 per month? This isn't BETA. With unemployment at 9.5% it shouldn't be too hard to find a "qualified" person to fix your game.
