You're both wrong. Huge numbers of players left Bossiney (and Killibury) for Devon long before Mythic came up with the idea of Ywain.

they didnt specificaly mention ywain, or how it would work, but they were already talking about clustering the rest of the servers except classics...
but even if my memory is a lil faulty on that.. it was still the players that choose to abandon classics, they werent forced out, or changes mythic made that made them leave... it was there own decision...

Yep.
Mythic were late to the party once more.
There had been c. a years worth of posts asking for a merge during which some people started over on Devon.
Then Mythic said that they were NOT going to do any transfers.
And the trickle became a flood - not just from classic but from not-Devon servers to Devon.
Customers wanted to play on a server with population.
Or - if they didn't want to start over - people left.
At some point either the people leaving must have caused alarm bell to ring and/or maybe Mythic just saw a way to reduce costs (the staff cuts happened to keep DAoC going after all as MJ and Lori said). Probably a combination of the two. Business reasons will have driven the merger

If you really want to cripple the game and population, create new servers and spread out the already thin population even more.
DAoC doesn't need new servers or rulesets because they have failed before. They need to fix existing issues and add content to Ywain.

800 mids steamrolling you everyday is not enough for you?!
Not if I have to play within certain hours to see it.
I logged into Daoc a a long while back, and everyone looked at my MP playermade gear with ToA artis and said "what no mino gear???"
Between that and just the lack of any feels of life in that game it didnt take long for me to cancel again.
I can only assume its the same, if not worse now.

Nothing is going to bring back DAoC.
It's time for DAoC 2. I know they said they wouldn't, but that was a decade ago.
