Rift is about to take a Major dive, as it nears its first subscription cycle.
Been playing Rift since betas, and was hoping for some kind of endgame PvP. It not there.
Now would be the perfect time for EaMythic to dust off some of them old server copies, and release some oldschool servers.
There has been so much talk about Daoc and RvR on the rift forums, this could if anything be a pretty quick cash cow for EaMythic.

Yeah, Classic Servers died, just like Mordred died. Since everyone says ppl who played Mordred have to live with it, so do everyone who wants a Classic or Origins server I guess. Mythic is NOT going to do anything but keep collecting until they shut the lights off

That's a pretty valid point, it got me picking DAOC up since I got bored of WAR and the devs only care about the pve side of Rift.

One thing DAOC doesn't need now is additional rulesets. What they have now is pretty good, they just need to fix some issues and polish it up a lot.

I dunno, I loved daoc but its just so.....dead.
If there was a population I would be playing it right now.
Just a lil nudge int he right direction towards all the people quitting rift could give this game a second life.

Classic servers were doing fine (they had better population then either Devon or the remaining cluster...was it Caerleon?) until they announced the forced merger and everyone decided since they were going to have to play TOA anyways they might as well play their old TOA toons.

you got your timeline wrong...
mythic said they were gunna merg the other clusters, and leave classic online with no changes for the people that wanted to play classics...
then the playerbase of classics abandoned ship and because the server population fell to only 300 people, mythic then decided to transfer classics to ywain as well...
the playerbase made the decision, mythic was willing to just leave classics as they were... but the playerbase decided difrently.
