You could put together a not-shitty template so you don't die in the duration of a stun. Resist pierce doesn't work on stun so with CL buff it's like a 5-second stun. The dangerous casters are the ones that know how to kite, and they'd kill you just as dead without stun.
True RP doesn't affect CC, but Duration does and it is capped at 25% and not 10%.
Thus, factoring in 25% Duration...
9s * 1.25 * .64 = 7s
So it's up to 7s stun against 36% resists, and that my friend is a guaranteed death to anyone but a pure tank class if Purge is down.
It is simply bad game design to put stun-type CC on a class with high DPS.
It just plain is, and has nothing to do with anyone whining, etc.
Dieing to a single attacker, from 100% down to death, while you're unable to move or do anything constructive the entire time, is just plain lame and involves exactly zero player-skill.
The victim is completely pulled out of his suspension of disbelief by this act, and can not possibly enjoy this experience as either fun or constructive. If you die in a fight where you get to act & react to your opponents moves, it's still fun to die. If you die in a situation where you feel you could have done something better, it's a learning-experience and that's fun too. If you die to a poor game mechanic, you're not having fun and thus get pulled out of your suspension of disbelief of the game. (And that usually leads to /region or VN whines, which often pull more players out of their suspension of disbelief of the game. If you're having fun you don't whine/complain nearly as much, because you're engrossed in the game you're playing and the fun you're having! So clearly, this mechanic is simply bad game design.)
Stun->DPS was lame on Scouts, is lame on tanks still (when you're caught by one, which slightly balances it at least), is lame on Assassins when they PA->CD gib a Caster (but it at least requires some measure of skill to land the PA!), etc.
In GvG this is not an issue, because it also requires the failure of another part (or parts) of the team, but it also wouldn't hurt GvG at all to nerf all of this silliness in order to make 1v1 and small-scale a little less ridiculous. So much of those sub-games revolve around stuns that it just takes away from the skill factor, and that in turn means a detriment to the fun-factor as well.
Just my 2 cents on this old dead horse debate...
