I play in the BG's since I loathe the idea of having to equip my characters in this Atlantis world,where if you aren't templated and have all the right Atlantise equipment you can't compete.At any given time ther may be 30 real players in the bg. Do you think they will answer a spec question ? % * )! NO ! if you send a tell directly to a person...the vast majority do not answer.
I also play in the BG's.
I have a seven line chat window. Which is used for a variety of things besides /reg and /send.
When I'm fighting someone, chances are your /send will be onscreen for less than a second. When I'm standing next to someone who is fighting, there's a fair chance it'll scroll off within a second or two. If I've just died, odds are good I'm not watching that chat window for 30 seconds or so.
In other words, if things are busy in the BG's, a lot of people are likely to miss whatever you say more often than not. So just be patient and repeat the question if you really need an answer right now.

I doubt that's the real reason considering how easy it is to get anything from ToA. Also you're not going to be able to compete very well ion the BG's if you're not templated either considering most of the toons that stay there have close to perfect temps.
You're right.Just another reason...for me..to stop paying for the game.

Mainly my point is that I miss seeing discussion of any kind appearing in the region chat. It's one aspect of a mmo that makes it much more fun to play over other games. That said, I wish I had started in alb since most people say that theres a lot more talking on that side.
Unfortunately, I've almost exclusively played in mid and I have one rr5 eld that I no longer ever use (and hib isn't much better on the social aspect anyway).

It is my feeling that people do not set up thier chat windows to maximum effectiveness. For a higher resolution monitor, having 2 separate chat windows works great! One for all combat related stuff, and the other just for chat channels. This way, you do not miss any chat when spamming spells, as a poster commented on a couple posts above this one.
Here are screenshots of my screen from a while back, before I got a wide screen monitor.
http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/3541098/1/Chat%20window%20setup%20tips%203-21-10?h=4fa3ec
And here is the advice I gave out to my fellow guildies on how to set up thier chat boxes.
===========================
The first one shows how I have my Combat window setup. I have others combat, resists changed, spell expires and spell pulse disabled. For me, there is just way too much info you DONT need being spammed in these windows. Others combat? You usually dont need to know that the Armsman next to you performs a style, along with any other melee that may be standing closeby, while you are trying to see if you performed yours! Resists changed and spell expires? Thats what the buff lines are for. Spell pulse? Wow, if there ever was a chat that was guilty of more spam, I dont know about it. You do not need to know that someones pulsing spell (minstrel, pally, caster speed or PBT) is running, and just think if they have a pet too!
Now, for the 2nd and 3rd screen shots, I have shown how my chat tabs are set up. You dont need all the ones I have, and you might want others instead. Right click and make your new window, then right click and choose 'Message and Channels', unchecking/checking everything you see in my pic. Right click to choose a default channel for that window, and again for renaming it. Now, whenever you are planning on chatting in one chat window (guild window, group, alliance, battlegroup etc), all you have to do is click that tab, hit return (enter key), type your message and hit enter again. If only Mythic made a default chat channel for /region, we would have an easier time of communicating quickly!
===========================
Feel free to pass this along to people who complain about missing chat often, it may help responses, as was the original topic of this post.

Man I don't know how you play with so much clutter, I have everything minimized as much as possible when in PvP. I run a 22" widescreen at max resolution.
What I do is make a chat only channel and when I'm in a safe spot I'll check it to see if I missed anything.

Don't get down on social interactions: sometimes people really don't want to talk, it took me.... two-three years to find my tight friend group in game, however I played with many good people in game.
I run two windows; a combat window and a chat window. And am ALWAYS trying to talk, whether it be in alliance or advice/region (not being one of those idiots in region, who think they're top shit because they troll in game) even if it's joking around with someone, generally I'm trying to answer questions... and I LOVE helping new players.
When I first came back, I didn't want to really talk to anyone and just got myself into one of the large spam invite guilds on Mid classic, where like you... it seemed there wasn't a ton of talking going on no matter what (even asking questions, the problem with asking questions in large guilds... is you generally don't get a good answer). I met up with three other people who I really liked to game with in the massive guild, along with myself, those guys moved to a new guild where I met an additional 6-10 people that I enjoyed playing with. From there I really hit it off with one of the members of that guild, we made our own guild and started inviting people we liked playing with. After over a year of that, I met up with two guys who had more of a similar play-style as myself. Left my old guild (which I still contact many people just to talk) and joined AMO. Played with them for like a year, when most of them decided to head out to RIFT. Left, came back with Tainerif; contacted a friend I made in game over Facebook, he came back, then found a BRAND new player to play with us (I imagine about 50 level 1-21 skalds were contacted by me to play with us, and finally one guy decided he wanted to; and he turned out to be a great guy). Now I hang out with those guys.
This game still has a social interaction; you just have to find your niche. Problem is there are so many idiots playing that would rather bother someone then help them, that's why there seems to be less and less contact and region talk.

I usually had /region turned off in my chat window because all of the idiots are useless banter that goes on there, so the people who may be willing to help may have just tuned it out.
It's tough, but finding that close group of friends is the best solution. Especially now with populations down, there aren't a lot of options but there are people out there who you can join up with.

I only sent tells to people NOT in rvr zones.Response rates are well below 50%.Of course people don't have to respond. But with the silence..and unanswered questions...comes reasons why not to play this game.Now a game with a community that's is very welcoming and responsive....VANGUARD.It just has nor rvr ;-(

use Advice, I know a lot of cats don't like getting random PMs from people they don't know. I love it, but I'm also a dying breed of player. Don't give up on a game because people don't talk to you, you have to find a friend group; people PvEing generally don't like talking because it's boring and they're normally PLing themselves.
Get into a group in RvR, play with a certain group of people for a bit, ask for a guild invite, make friends, play, have fun.
