Here is a good way to run a hunter without a buffbot:
1) Use realm buffer
2) Equip 2 items with a total of 25% buff bonus. You will want to use items that don't force you to unequip items with timers on them. For example, you don't want to use a gem with buff bonus on it, if you are using Atlantis Tablet, because you will not be allowed to use AT's shape change for another 15m after unequiping it.
3) Use hunter buffs, if you run 50 archery you'll get red str, red dex/quick, red spec AF, and red dmg add
4) Use a haste potion, which you'd need to use anyway without a healer bot
5) If you like, use an item with a Str/Con charge on it - you can extend the time on this buff by getting +duration items. This will take your /use offline for a bit.

Can you play without a buffbot, yes sure you can. Can you win without a buffbot, most likely not, or only rarely at least until high RR (which of course is harder to get when everyone is buffed up the yingyang and you aren't).

You can win without a buffbot... especially on a hunter, which not only has self-buffs, but is also one of the strongest characters in the game.
If you do it right, you will be giving up 12 Dex and 12 Con. I thought realm AF would lower AF, but on Hib my ranger's AF was the same with it as red base AF.
You can make up the 12 Dex with Aug Dex III.

Some classes can be just fine without them some classes are noticeably weaker but playable and some I'd never consider playing without one.

You can usually leech buffs off people if you arent a D-bag. I buff random people on a fairly regular basis, so I'm sure others do as well.

To reiterate, on a hunter, done right you lose:
12 Dex
12 Con
by using realm buffs. Assuming AF is the same on Mid.
