Slam got nerfed for scouts and that has changed things a bit, so keep that in mind.

how much better off are archers with buffbots as opposed to self buffs? needing to make a char to PL some chars on my account that doesn't have a buffbot.

If you were around when necros were the rage for PLing other people (non-botted, sight necros), archers are twice as fast as that at least. If you are careful about what camps you choose, you can get by with self buffs and a dex potion. Hell, you probably don't even need the dex potion. Non-stop yellow-oj killin machines
