The game is still fun for many and I welcome back any returning player, but angryranger is accurate.

they are horribly inept

urple]Very true. They are still horribly inept. Even though it is no longer Mythic, but is now EA/Bioware, they still are making silly mistakes that only the most inept would be expected to make and they still treat the customer like mushrooms (plop poop on them and keep them in the dark). It is still typical Mythic.
over billing people
[color

urple] This did happen on a massive scale where huge numbers of people had their credit cards, debit cards, paypal, etc. . .billed over and over and over. Some reported charges over 4 figures (in the thousands of dollars). I am sure that Mythic thinks they did right by the customer in the end but I recall some threads where over draft fees, caused by empty checking accounts and bounced checks, were still being disputed and seemed to never be fully resolved.
I have read speculation that the limit on the number of billings event now allowed on CCs (2) is due to past over billing problem.
Some players will only use EA/DAoC game cards to pay for the game. Using a game card seems to prevent over billing challenges.
IMO I would always use a game card to pay for an account and would never again attach my billing info to a Mythic auto billing system.
losing accounts
[color

urple]Most accounts still exist in the archive, though I have read a very few threads where players returned to find that, because of a glitch in the old database, the players old characters had vanished. This is a rare occurrence. Most old accounts are still safe in the old/archived database.
charging credit cards without permission
[color

urple]I have read some threads, a very few, where players have indicated that they have minor billing problems. Unfortunately it seems that the CS department is not very swift at looking into such problems.
Again, I would always suggest that when dealing with Mythic, or those who control Mythic, that the player use a game card to activate game time.
and making it impossible to cancel without waiting on the phone for hours.
[color

urple] It is my understanding that the main problem with canceling is a cosmetic/display problem with the web site.
If a player has a reoccurring billing, when the player goes to the account management site there is a "Cancel" button. If the player has already canceled then the "Cancel" button is not displayed making it appear that there is no way to cancel the account.
IMO this is another form of "inept".
If the www site knows that the account is canceled, which it must if the "Cancel" button is not being displayed on canceled accounts, then instead of a "Cancel" button there should be a button that says,
"

our account has been canceled and will remain active only until the end of the billing cycle. To re-subscribe, or to enter game card information to add attritional play time to your account, please click on this notice."
Such a post on the EA account management site would make it clear that a canceled account was actually canceled and it would prevent needless calls to the CS department.(edit:This challenge with the account management page is something that Mythic has been aware of for a long time now. The fix is very, very, very easy/simple but Mythic/EA/Bioware seems to not care at all).
