I hate wisps. It's completely boring, and without 2 Soj's, too much mindless running.

How do YOU level 40-50 without wisps?

So far, I've found Catacombs is a great filler when you're bored of running the wisps. There are a wealth of quests with great xp that are good to get you from 40 to about 42/43 in an hour and a half or so. These were run with no problem with a Champ and Bard duo. Look for these quests in particular, but if you see a yellow knot, go ahead and grab it and do it:

Shar's Labyrinth:
Lost in oblivion
In the mouth of the labyrinth
Brother's Keeper
Down with the madness

Underground Forest:
The missing watcher
Messages of healing
The war council

Did wisps (ugh) 43-47, with a break to kill Hermes 3x and not have the helm drop because I wasn't high enough level...

Big gap from 47 to 48, ended up trying all kinds of stuff before doing wisps 5 or 6 times to ding 48. Did repeatable faction quest for Tailtu, plus the Meldun quest and Stealing Supplies to get 48.5.

Considering kickin it old school and hitting up SI for the next level and a half... appears to be great xp still, even if the items are pretty much all trash now. Will probably be trying the following:

Domnann:
Twisted Evil

Vigilant Rock:
Face the twisted
Corruptors, botonids, and trade

Alta Fearann:
Xaxni's quest
The hand of god

Caillte Garran:
The sylvans pain
The tree maidens
Rhoiwyns necklace
The lost seed

Total for SI is about 12 billion xp, most of the quests are 48/49

Another alternative would be TOA, for about the same amount of xp:

Stygia:
Marauding bandit
Lost in the sands of time
Homecoming for a hero

Typhon's:
Sacrificial rites

Meso:
Broken history

Notos:
Seven coins
Tears of fire

Anatole:
Telgars redemption

Any thoughts or suggestions? Doing the Cata quests was a good break from running mindlessly back and forth, and I believe was much faster than actually doing the wisps (without sojx2). How would you fill in 43-47 without doing wisps?

I feel your pain hehe... but I just leveled a ranger and eldritch to 50, without much "wisping".

I know the ranger is almost like cheating in PVE hehe, but I found one very nice place at 40-44, which were in the BG specific for that level (40-44).

What I did was to go behind the keep, where there's all these orange and yellow (some turns blue @ 44) mobs which I
simply just point-blanked down, over and over .. I started a contest to see if I could actually clear the camp, and
even with a ranger's killing-speed, it just wasnt possible.. but whats that? .. oh, I gained another level.. 40-42 went super fast, before
I had to log that night. Shame I dont remember the exact number, but think one level took about 30mins in those 40's... Might have
had a lot of rested xp also, so guess it doesnt count much.

Else I just grinded the 45-49 bg killing everything I could find, and did the dragonzone quest(s) like you did, for another 1.5 bub.. then
task dungeons for the rest.

Eld were totally different and upperly boring.. not always as easy when you gotta have those buffs.

Not sure this post was any help at all hehe, but thought Id share my story a bit anyway.

40-44 offers leirvik bg.... dbl xp plus the ck take is worth 6 bulbs and you can take it once a lvl..
45-49 offers a co5 dungeon... good xp fast arti lvl'ing and lots of gem drops
47-50+ offers the dragonsworn supply quest... very fast xp and gold... great for popping the last few lvl's and/or lvl'ing cl xp

they need to bring the BG exp quests into the final two BG's

SI and TOA quests were horribad xp. We ended up wisping ot 50 anyways, lol.

Kill stuff in one location, then when you get bored run to another location and kill stuff there.

There's a reason people used to hate leveling in DAoC. Games have moved on since SWG came out with constant quests to max level (even if those quests mostly rewarded money, it gave you something to do, kept your interest). 12 hours of playtime to get from 42 to 43? No thanks!

Killing mobs in BG's is pretty good xp if you don't want to do wisps. Wisp quest is fast xp but wont lvl your arties, so on my last toon I went to cathal from 48-50. Great xp, almost faster than wisps but I wouldn't solo there before 47, mobs would be tough.

DAoC has also changed to keep up with this demand. While back in the day this may have been true, I doubt it takes 12 hours of play time to get from 40-50 killing OJs all the way. You can easily and quickly grind 40-50 these days if you get tired of running wisps.

grind td's to 46, or cathal valley


then hit catacombs and commander quests from 46-50!
