it's going to be fairly large. I hope you have a good connection. Honestly if I were you, I'd start the download before you go to bed and just let it run while you sleep. Do the install the next night before bed and start the patching and just let it run all night.

Also, you might want to check out a custom UI. there's a lot you can do by updating. I personally use BobsUI but there are a lot of other good UIs out there as well.

once you realize 50's are fast, templates take not horribly long time, you see the true last grind left in the game: the realm ranks. They have boosted rp amounts quite a lot for taking keeps/towers, so if you are into that big man stuff you should be able to get some rps going until your high enough rank to do some effective roaming.

so the patches are as big as the client download?

client is over 3 gigs

is that 3 gigs all of the xpacs?

or are they in the patches?

to be honest ive always been rather fond of the simplistic UI thats been on the game its still chat box/skill bar/ nav panel / ping/clock right?

It's been years since I have actually downloaded a client and installed it. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever downloaded the client. I've been copying old installs and patching as necessary for years. My guess is, a combination of both. I think the expax are included with the client now, but there are a fair amount of patches too.

client DL is like 2 mins now, then you patch the whole game all the xpacs and everything.

i uninstalled and deleted all my old daoc folders than DLed the new patcher thingy they got going to free up like 7 gigs of space.


i think they also have a torrent though for the full game up to a certain point but you would still have to patch like 2 gigs of stuff

i cant imagine being present and watching all of these gradual changes in the game.
it must be weird for you guys.
it will just be a big smack in the face for me though.
actually, now that i think about it, u guys got eased into the changes...
eh..ill adapt.
i love the game too much not to.

Some of the changes have been good, others not so much. Enjoying this game is all about expectation management. People who get a narrow focus of what they want to do, or think is fun are usually the ones who won't stick around once that particular thing is changed.

yea, there are too many things i liked about the game for just a few things to drive me away.i didnt leave before because i wanted to, believe me.but yea. im really looking forward to diving right back into it.i think im gonna roll a fire wiz and take him to 50 , now thatb its easier.
