Looks good.

Now if only the owners of DAoC and Crysis could get together.
Oh wait that would be EA and ..... EA ....

Spengler: There's something very important I forgot to tell you.
Venkman: What?
Spengler: Don't cross the streams.
Venkman: Why?
Spengler: It would be bad.
Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, "bad"?
Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Ray: Total protonic reversal.
Venkman: Right. That's bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.

That does look very good, although the tree models do need some work. Could it be used in game and still support rendering with tons of players playing in the zone at the same time is the next question...

It does make Mythic look bad I gotta say.

For extra points, can you render any of the old frontiers?

Sadly most of tree models are from Crysis1, as Crysis2 have very limited amount of models.
http://mharjula.blogspot.com/2009/11/performance-testing.html .. was done with Crysis1 with real time shadows.
Yes I have old frontier setup also, but I need to tune/fix my import now for Crysis2 as is supporting more detailed base textures.

but what kind of machine does it take to load all those people in that engine?

and those look to be stationary npcs.. not moving players that can change direction/speed at any time so the engine cant calculate an expected path like with npcs

having just character models standing there is pretty much like any other object... its live players that cause more load on a graphics engine.

while its all pretty and everything.. you gotta consider alot of daoc players probly still have lower end machines

Models are running "default" animation in that screenshot, and those models running many times more textures and detail compared to daoc models. (+ dynamic light/shadow and HDR effects)
But I don't blame (DAoC) Gamebryo to be bad one, it's bit oldish, but it's capable still running nice looking games like Oblivion and even Rift ... so I blame EA/Mythic not doing bit refresh to models and for scenery.

This looks amazing.

Do you plan on converting the entire game? Or at least something similar (due to copyright)?

Or are you just playing with the graphics editor for fun?

Looks amazing imo.

I would pay to play in these touched up zones. If one could keep the traditionall art design/feel of the animiations true but with cryengine 3 then it would be the obvious engine for a DAoC1.5 if one was ever made. ( Never been a fan or used the catacombs models since I thought it looked nothing like doac and was too far apart from the traditional art work ).

For now, I'm only playing with editor stuff (for fun) .. but let's see if some day I'll pick up SDK itself and start playing with real Cryengine code.
