I wonder if Mythic is still paying a royalty to the company that did the trees.

I have to agree with the others about wishing we could buy Daoc away from Mythic and have the OP redo this game properly with these engine changes.

Do the trees in the Crysis2 models allow for line-of-sight? In DaoC, although you cannot run through a tree, they do not block line of sight for spellcasting or targetting. Rocks do, as expected, but how about the trees in your models?

It probably does. In DAOC they pre-compute a lot of LOS, I remember them having to do that for keeps and dungeons. Modern engines will use a form of ray-casting. You fire rays from the person to their target and see if its obstructed.

How much does EA want is the first question to answer - and they won't tell us. In my previous business dealings with EA they wanted 3x the gross profit of the previous year's sales - but that was 20 years ago. Another place to start is to estimate Mythic's operating expenses and work from there. Last time I looked at an EA quarterly earnings report it wasn't a big help, but company profiling and finance isn't my bag. Tl;dr: Hire a CPA.

I'm sorry, but for me, I prefer the old DAoC in the comparison pic at the top of your page. The OMGINYOURFACEBBQ bloom is too much.

But I'm in the minority it seems.

I wanted heavy bloom as it looks more like today's game ... Also bit hides low quality textures what Mythic have for old keep models

The lighting alone makes a huge difference. Anyway.. Why do this? Will players be able to use it as a mod of sorts?

Sadly no. At this point it's only eye candy.

So players will never be able to apply this to their game? Sounds like a massive waste of time then.

It's Mythics job, and I can't help with that
This is just showcase, what if DAoC was running Cryegine 2 or 3 as 3D engine, and it's just map, not full blown daoc client anyway.
And I'm doing this because I learning by doing stuff in Crysis and also how Mythic (Gamebryo) is using 3D content.
