Mythic are looking to you guys to go try out the new user hubs and help test things thoroughly. They've even thrown in some bonus item(s) for your live character(s), check it out..

Quote:

Pendragon is looking for devoted testers for the New User Journey introduced with version 1.110. While it is of course tempting to go straight into battle with the resources given, we want players to go start in the tutorial and give us feedback though the different levels and quests.

As a reward we will give away "Pendragon's Ring", a trinket with decent stats and a limited amount of full buff charges identical to those received from a Druid/Cleric/Shaman with a 25% bonus to stat enhancement . Any player who completes at least one hub of the New User Journey (and hopefully provide constructive feedback) will have a good chance to receive one of the rings for a character of their choice on the live servers. If you complete all five parts in one realm, you will have five chances to win one of the rings..

Please note that an account can get only one ring per realm and that the live character has to be on the same account as the one doing the tests. All rings will be distributed soon after the version goes live.

The New User Journey hubs are:

Albion:

* Levels 10-14: Cotswold
* Levels 15-19: Prydwen Keep
* Levels 20-24: Caer Ulfwych
* Levels 25-29: Campacorentin Station
* Levels 30-34: Adribard Retreat

Midgard:

* Levels 10-14: Mularn
* Levels 15-19: Fort Veldon
* Levels 20-24: Audliten
* Levels 25-29: Huginfel
* Levels 30-34: Fort Atla

Hibernia:

* Levels 10-14: Mag Mell
* Levels 15-19: Tir na mBeo
* Levels 20-24: Ardagh
* Levels 25-29: Howth
* Levels 30-34: Connla

Come to Pendragon and join the test. We are looking forward to getting your feedback. Don't worry if you have already started testing, that means you are already in the pool of possible winners.

Patching as you read this!!!

Get on Pend this weekend and lend a hand!

Oh hell, most of these dinosaurs will butcher this new patch stuff.

We will hear; "bring back the day one UI and day one leveling system.

Then somehow it will jump to make an Origins Server, blah blah blah.

Good incentive. I'm pretty excited about the new experience changes.

This sounds like a typical business motivational paradigm with intentionally obscure goals. “Work as hard as you can for as long as you can and at the end we will tell you if it was enough to get the <cough> prize.”

With Mythic’s trustworthiness having been often called into question over the years (recalled prizes, variable contest rules, lying to customers, etc. . . ) here we are to trust them?

What is considered a good chance? 1:100? 1:10? 1:1,000? 1:10,000?

For computing good chance are you using the RNG where 2% could actually have a wild swing on the bell curve and end up being 1:100,000?

What is considered decent stats? Really OP stuff that will piss off everyone that does not have one? Or something that does not really work into most templates? or. . . .

How many rings will be awarded?

Will the award process be transparent and open? (if not why not?)

Why are the rules and reward somewhat ambiguous?

Sorry to throw poop on the fan but I have been around Mythic long enough, and been screwed enough, that I am leery of contests like this one.

I totally agree. Show us how it effects us at high status as well.

Sorry but rapid leveling (easy mode) is one of the things that has driven the game into the ground. I loved /level 30 and loved /level 20 but they were horrible for the game. Even Mythic admitted that /level was harmful to the game.

I would rather put up with somewhat slower leveling and a game that never needed clustering (a game with many hundreds of thousands of subs), than what we have now. . . a super cluster and a dieing game (but almost instant level 50s).

Dude... just pretend you are testing because you care/it's fun and don't think about it.

Dude. . . when we see Mythic doing stupid things we should not just sit back and pretend everything is fine.

I do test. It is fun. I have always run tests. . . some hundreds of times and some a thousand times. I have always liked Pendragon.

But that will not stop me from pointing out how Mythic seems to still be leaning toward old ways. One thing that seemed to get Mythic's attention, and be the impetus for change, was when Mythic’s obvious silliness would be put on display for all to see. So as often as possible I put it on display.

The prize should not be ambiguous.

The goal should not be ambiguous, flighty, variable, etc. . . .

Having ambiguous contest rules and having a prize that is ambiguous will inevitably lead to anger with some players. It just will. What ever Mythic hands out, some players will be angry because the eventual rules will not live up to what those players expected and for other players the prize will not be what players expected/want.

Also, based on the rules that have been announced, it will inevitably happen (statistics says it will happen) that some people will put in huge amounts of work, put in days of testing, and get nothing while a friend or guild mate that is a Pendragon lookyloo will spend 30 min goofing around, accomplish just one little thing, and still get a ring. When those who put in days and days of testing find out about the lookyloo who obtained a ring, some of the players who spent days testing will feel screwed (it is human nature that can’t be wished away).

The rules of the contest have been created in such a way that some players are going to be frustrated and pissed off. This is silly of Mythic. It is the old typical self-destructive Mythic.

There is no need for Mythic to have ambiguity in the contest. After all these years they still do not understand typical human nature, or they just do not care about what the customers need.

I have always tested simply because I find it fun. The contest will not get me to do more on Pendragon than I would normally have done. My ignoring the contest and having normal fun while testing on Pendragon does not change the damage to the game, though needless player frustration, that I see waiting to happen.
