I play mostly in Molvik, and a bit in Thid. Until recently I always used a bot. But now there are buff NPCs in the BGs I decided to unsub my bot account and see how I got on just relying on the buff NPCs.

Can you please not say that? its people like you that will get them to undo the bot changes.

I disagree. I think a lot of people are put off playing or returning to the game because of the need for buffbots. If they can break the dependancy on second accounts, yes they will lose subs from the cancelled bot accounts, but at the same time I think they will actually gain more subs from players who decide to stay or return because there are now buff NPCs. They should have done this years ago.

For example, I returned to the game 4 months ago because they were running a special promotion on 3 month timecards which meant it didn't cost too much extra to maintain a second account (over a single non discounted sub). But my 3 months expired recently and there's no discounts on timecards anymore. I decided I couldnt justify paying for two full price accounts. If it wasn't for the new buff NPCs in the BGs (where I mostly tend to play) I would have left the game again. But the NPC buffbots mean I will keep paying for one account and since I am still enjoying the game this might be for some months to come. I doubt I'm alone. I also know people who have returned to the game specifically because it is now possible to play without the need for a buffbot.

Daoc is still a great game, but is really hard to justify having to maintain two accounts just to be competitive. No game should be designed on this basis, period, and especially not one which is at the end of its lifecycle and competing with a general trend towards F2P in the MMO market. EA/Bioware need to be doing everything they can to retain customers, bring back old ones and attract new ones. Having the game geared towards a hardcore of fans who are willing to pay for two accounts is not the best way to do this. Levelling the playing field by placing buff NPCs everywhere in the game is the better way to go.

I agree that Mythic is doing something good for the game, and the money in their pockets, by introducing buff NPC's and therefore having some people cancel, but they might not think so and then decide to revert the buff changes after people unsub.

As I've said so many times, I won't ever cancel my second account, as I have RvR toons on both, and its necessary to have a bot for PvE and making coin to make templates.

I can say with 100% certainty that if the answer to my post was "es you still need a bot" there is no way I would resub.

the answer is no. you'll be what? 5 points from cap bot buffs in molv and even less in Thid just using the NPC buffers.

Yea, it's in that range. You can kill people with those buffs.

This is why Mythic's bot model has always been a mistake. Forcing people to pay more money to compete with others has always been a joke. I have always believed they would get more subscribers if you didn't need a bot to compete. These recent updates to NPC buffs have been a step in the right direction. And Mythic slowly admitting their mistake.

There's only a handful of artis which you can use in Molvik and none are essential. You can build a nice template without artis, there's plenty of things you can pick up on housing merchants at low cost to fill out a template with nice damage, range, casting/melee speed and stat cap boosts. Plus also the nice bounty point items which have been added.

That said, two artis that are worth considering are Traldor's Oracle for casters (as it has a nice +5% casting speed and resist piercing) and Gem Of Lost Memories for all classes (damage boosts and a crowd control reduction buff). These are easily obtained now from either bounty points or glass. But be aware that Traldor's Oracle needs to be levelled in PVE as it levels *horribly* slowly in RvR. Gem Of Lost Memories levels very fast in both PVE and RvR.
