why would you run out and then pop a heal pot for like 100 of your hits back? lol just keep running IMO. Assuming you can get out of range before he kills you... he'd be smart to get you in fairly close range so he can use insta's/melee if needed and so you can't simply run out of his range...

I think what you meant to say is: that's why you use a heal pot while running out of his range.

Casting speed is 3.0 SPD for NS nuke, quite slow by any list casters standards. You can't take it below ~1.5s a pop either. I tried with 440ish DEX and 10% SPD and couldn't hit another break-point, and some people pointed out that there is a cap on how much you can shave off casting speed so even if you could get more DEX it wouldn't help. List casters DDs can usually be taken down to ~1.1s a pop fairly easily, some even .9 IIRC?
So beyond 374 DEX has no affect on casting speed for the NS, but it does of course improve damage.
I haven't played Thid in a long time, but I'm going to assume you probably didn't have much/any Cold resists, so that would make a huge difference in reaction time you get. I know in 50 RvR the only non-AFK people I ever killed with my RR5 Caster NS were those with poor Cold resists. Otherwise I only had marginal success placing Poison Spikes for people to walk into, then popping them with DDs + Insta (meaning I hit them from within 1k range), and that was sometimes enough to overwhelm them with damage. Most often though people just run out of range, popping a heal pot as explained above.
They know not to run at you like they would other casters, because then they'd face LB+DD poisons in melee. You have no ranged CC or any sort of speed shout to catch up to them once they're out of range, so the solo Caster NSs life was one of embarrassing attempts to nuke someone down, and then get run over from behind.
Yeah at RR10+ that certainly changes a bit, since you can pimp your nukes out to do significantly more DPS then a RR5 can get. I highly doubt 400 damage *average* nukes as even some NSs claim. I can't buy it nor have I seen a single Nuker NS video prove that the play-style is even viable in 50 RvR. (Solo that is, obviously in duos & teams it's very deadly.) At ~400 DEX with only like MoM4, 10% RP, and 8% spell damage I was lucky to hit for 300 a pop against any opponents with 36% Cold, less vs. bot buffs obviously.
Let's not forget the spell delves 125DD at 3.0spd. Theurgs for example get a 179D @ 2.6spd, or a 209DD at 2.8spd.

I didn't say it wasn't possible. I said I don't buy 400 *average* in a game where almost half the people you run into seem to have ~50% Cold resists due to bot buffs.
I just made a Necro to toy around with the past couple of days, and with a temp that has 8% dmg, 25% RP, and capped ACU and I'm barely averaging a bit over 400 a pop on my 179 delve LTs, albeit I'm only RR3Lx with like MoM3. Thus I find it hard to believe a NS can do 400 *average* at just about any RR, or at least not in a way that is realistic. (MoM9 + AugDEX9 really kinda ain't realistic IMO.)
Doing it just to do it is one thing, certainly funny to mess around with, but actually making it work in a play-style is my point. Losing to a RR5 Inf at RR12 would be a bit embarrassing just because you want to prove you can nuke for 400 non crit. ;-)
