It was a nice idea in theory but there where two problems:
1. The zones where too small, with too many choke points
2. There was no reason to go anywhere other than zone people where trying to lock
Result = zerg, and contrary to popular design belief zerging is not fun.
Hmm let's hope then that they learned something from the past, cuz I'd kinda like SWTOR to be good.

Same here. I'm planning on making either a smuggler or trooper. My boss is in the beta and he has shown it to me a few times. It looks real nice on high settings. They also confirmed open pvp that sound similar to DAOCS rvr, but well have to wait and see.
Anyway, thanks now I know where this "lake" term came from.

Realm versus Realm is only true in Dark Age of Camelot.
The Realm of Albion
The Realm or Midgard
The Realm of Hibernia
Dark Age of Camelot is full of factual places and historical lore.
I can't think of any MMO launched after that can deliver this.

If a WoW player came up with the idea or not is besides the point.
The term RvR lakes didn't come about until WAR. Where you'd have both sides have question zones in a particular region, with the center being a red colored blobbed of varying shapes and sizes based on the level range of the zone.
Someone coined RvR lakes and it stuck. It wasn't even remotely like a frontier as you could skirt outside the area and your flag would turn off.
They were a stupid departure from traditional RvR, and lead to stupid problems.

I may drop $50 on this. I do not want to be a Jedi. Or a bounty hunter.
May the Farce be with you.

And if they do 'lakes', it'll be just like in Warhammer. Where after about a month or 2, the population will decide, its easier to run to a
undefended zone, and take it, and then, it just turns into a run around the circle game for the players.
All you'll get, is some loot armor, and coin, and RPs, or whatever it is, they're gonna call it.
After about 3 months of that, most players will get board to tears.
The only thing that could help, would be to put a 3rd or 4th faction in place.
