Be patient. Don't let this minor technicality make you puss out. Too many have quit DAOC for dumb reasons already.

All you had to do was install some DX9 updates, not ditch your entire OS that is vastly superior to XP in basically every way

Indeed. Windows 7 has so many more advantages that xp didn't now. It runs overall better too on anything I have run it on. I will never go back to xp on anything again.

It sounds as though it was a driver issue with your gfx card (possibly dx9.0 not being update) or video settings and not windows 7 in itself.

There is nothing that makes Win7 a worse option for running DAoC.
Mind you, DAoC is old and somewhat outdated code wise and do not like
multiple cores, so besides already mentioned tips (DirectX and run as admin)
make DAoC only use core0 by adding affinity to the execution line like this:

"X:\Dark Age of Camelot\camelot.exe" /affinity 1

where X of course is the partition where you have DAoC.
This little tweak usually solves a lot of gfx glitches and so.
