As you can see, there are plenty of other development teams that conduct Q&A on Reddit, albeit mostly for new/upcoming games or services (like Google Maps). The DAoC team should consider this to garner some interest in the game.
It is an interesting idea. I am not familiar with reddit.com and I am not sure how many possible MMO players use it. Extra exposure is almost always good but in most of my posts about ‘increasing game exposure to the masses’ I usually take the position that getting large numbers to try out a neglected, decrepit, buggy game does not tend to improve subscription numbers. First the game needs to be fixed.

I'm sure the Devs will get plenty of questions from the likes of former, existing, and potential DAoC players on a variety of topics. Reddit's system allows users to upvote and downvote questions and responses based on popularity, so it's a useful way to sort through which topics are most appealing to gamers.
Thoughts?
I may be totally wrong about this but DAoC people (staff) seem to be of the personality type where direct exposure to the public is not beneficial.
“Working as intendedâ€
“Tabledâ€
“Under investigation†(for almost a decade in far too many cases??????)
“Attempting to implement that would make the data base pukeâ€
“TOA will not be necessary to compete in RvRâ€
“the code necessary for fighting in housing was never createdâ€
“Stacking pots can’t be codedâ€
“It’s quite complex†(reason why the new Herald does not have stats or Housing search)
or the overused mushroom method of information dispersal (pile poop on them and keep them in the dark)
etc. . . .
The game has many very intelligent players (like those who create custom UIs or Charplan, or Valmerwolf, or etc. . . ) that can quickly recognize tripe when they read it and Bioware (Mythic) has always had a difficult time telling the straight up truth. Just a week or so ago we were told “It’s quite complex†concerning the Stats and Housing Search on the New Herald when shard volunteer coders seem to have overcome many of those “complex†obstacles.
The only reason to blow smoke when communicating with the MMO customer is to obfuscate ones own failings (like being lazy and not wanting to do the hard work of delving into old code to fix a problem or being lazy and making excuses why the old Herald Housing Search pages have not been reviewed and copied to the new Herald, or to reinforce excuses told to a clueless boss who is believing the pabulum and excuses, or. . .etc. . . ) and Bioware (old Mythic) tends to blow a lot of smoke up the customer’s collective rear.
Bioware (old Mythic) has some brilliant people that do brilliant things but they all to often do silly things that have no defense and instead of standing tall, admitting a mistake and taking the heat, they refuse to take responsibility which almost always leads to them blowing smoke, obfuscating, spewing tripe, etc. . . . Until Bioware can just fess up and state facts, they should probably only have limited exposure to the customer and that exposure should be through a Customer Service person.
