I have played all 3 realms, my highest RR characters are in Hib, but I would have to agree that Albion is the easiest realm to get groups in. As a realm, hib is borderline antisocial. Midgard is friendly when it runs groups, but its hit or miss at times.

Alb has always been the friendliest by far then Hib & then Mid. Euro players are also much more friendly then the North American crowd.

Albion has the most zerg friendly classes and plenty of Minstrels and Sorcerors. So it's easier to throw together a random PUG on Alb that hangs together. Hib classes aren't so zerg/PUG friendly and Bards are always in short supply, so Hib groups tend to be more picky about who they invite. Mid is somewhere between the two, there's always Skalds about and Healers whilst a bit hit and miss are usually available.

You know what I think you are right, this is at least part of the problem for Hib.

I'd like to see the Bard class changed so that it only has one primary role out of speed and crowd control. For me it would make sense to remove primary CC from Bards and make them focus on speed, medium CC, heals and some melee. To compensate, add a charmable pet to Bard as Hib is short on pet classes. Then move Hib primary CC to the Mentalist, which would become similar to the Sorceror but without speed.

In an ideal world, maybe this would work, though it would require a redesign of other hib classes as well. Obviously though, its not going to happen.

As I've always said though, I think they could release an awesome DAOC 1.5 by redesigning all classes from the bottom up, and then starting a fresh new server for people to play, starting at level 1. I don't say this because DAOC class balance is bad, apart from a few classes I think the entire class design in DAOC is actually very good. But it could open up so many possibilities of new playstyles that I think it could be quite fun. Maybe it's something to seriously consider if DAOC ever really dies, and they want to have some fun, while maybe bringing others back.
