Author Topic: New to DAOC. What class to choose with no buff bot? [Locked]

Hello. I want to give DAOC a try since I read the pvp is very good.
What is a good solo class since I don't have a buffer on a second account? I was thinking the "bard" classes since they seem to have good buffs. I am open to any class but I do enjoy playing classes that are fast. I just don't want to pick a class that needs a buffer to level efficiently.

Also I would prefer to play on a realm that needs players. Any ideas?

Thank you!

vampire, cleric, druid, shaman, if you care about having max buffs.

other classes with partial self buffs do pretty well filling in the rest with realm/pot buffs, eg friars, archers, wardens, healers, etc

Heretic.

Amazingly underrated class that you don't have to respec to solo on.

Vampire is the obvious choice, but there are several classes that can do well with minimal buffing from the new buffer NPCs. Archers in particular do very well solo.

no, don't play a Bard to solo, by far the worst solo class in the game. Ok maybe a pac healer isn't good either I dunno, but Bards are purely a group utility class.

Don't worry about buffs, there are buff NPCs in all of the battlegrounds and in the frontiers, and you can buy potions that are portable. Ok, so potions do +125, buff npc's do +140, and full buffs are +155, but its not worth changing classes over +15 stats. So play whatever you want. Both Skald and Minstrel are very solid classes with the best speed in the realm, it will make grouping with anyone a lot easier, but they are both good at soloing too. Only problem is that in RvR a minstrel relies on its pet to solo, and the pet won't be nearly as good without a buffbot.

The last thing we need are more skalds and minstrels.

Wow alot of different opinions! I guess my next step is to read about the play styles of the suggested classes.

Also what realms are in need of people? I'm getting the impression that Albs are popular and don't need people. Seems most of the suggestions are Albs.

Thx!

Read up on the various classes, then come roll a Hunter in Midgard
