That sounds brilliant, Eranthe.
Could you please explain the 'bp scroll farming' portion of your post as well as how you managed to obtain a house and all those other goodies by level 29? I'm coming back and this would be extremely helpful to know.
“BP Scroll Farming: Ernie's Path to Riches and Power†or “How To Buy a House with the Blood of your Enemiesâ€
I returned to the game on a shiny new account since I sold my old account many moons ago. My goal was to make a solid and solvent main character.
This game does not have quick and easy cash transfers such as a mail system or an auction house. The economy as it stands may very well break if these factors were introduced. The only way to move goods is through a Consignment Merchant, and for that you need a House, a Porch, and of course the Merchant themselves, all of which cost levels of cash that a low level player does not have access to without subsidy… until now!
The Battlegrounds (BGs) have 5 repeatable quests, like “kill X mob†“kill 5 enemy realm members†and 1 non repeatable quest “Reach RR x L yâ€, until higher level BGs, then they offer 2 “kill X†and 1 “Scout this tower†where you run up and tag the tower while visible along with the RvR BP quests. On turnin you are awarded a sum of cash which helps pay for your realm buffs and a Bounty Point Scroll that is worth 5-80 Bounty Points per scroll (depending on the level of the BG) on consumption. These BP are useable for purchasing the arms and armor available per tier of BG, as well as the conventional BP items such as:
Realm Speed Gems
Waterbreathing Gems
Health/Power/Endo Gems
Artifact Encounter Credits
Artifact Scrolls
Master Level Credits
BP jewelry
Rent Tokens
BPs are the new standard of buying power, and are approximately valued around 1 Gold per BP.
At the level cap for each BG, I would /xp off and continue running the quests and just run a lap around the BG, completing the PvE quests along the way, and RvRing as the opportunity and targets presented themselves. Turn in and repeat. I had it in my head that when the time came I wanted enough BP stockpiled to be able to afford my Master Levels and Artifacts without having to go through Trials of Agony, and not having to try to earn BP in Frontier RvR with no template.
It was a grind but after many groups, watching dozens of people come in at 25 and “Graduate†at 30 while I kept the group going, I made a lot of contacts and friends, and had over 10K BP. And the whole time people are still offering plat for MLs, BP items, etc. So I would put up BPs to buy ML tokens, jewelry etc, and people paid me for it. But I had enough Plat to buy a cottage, a porch, a Consignment Merchant, a material Merchant, a forge… everything I could possibly need for self sufficiency… and earned the “Protector of Braemar†title which amazes me considering how slow the action is in that BG. When I dinged level 30 I had enough BP to buy my Orions Belt, Ring of Lost Memories.
Now Ernie is 48, ML5 (the ML cap for CV), leveled up his Gem of Lost Memories and Orions Belt (woring on the Traitors Dagger now) ) still only RR 2.2 but hes got ok gear, a steady income, and enough cash to work up his crafting for Salvaging, and an outlet to sell off Scales and ROG gear from just running around exploring. Its not fast… but very fulfilling for someone who really only crafts to raise skill for salvaging. I’ll get the remaining BP eventually to afford ML 6-10 and then I’ll turn XP on, ready for the Frontier in earnest.
Its all about a goal, and a plan, and a willingness to stop to smell a lot of roses along the way.
