So. I know this eer, guy, who started playing the 15 day trial thingy.
Here is what I was told.
They copied Warhammer and put in armors and stuff in each Battlegrounds. The armors are awesome and easy to get through BP points which you can earn through battle or PVE, inside the BG that is. This is a great thing. It is so easy to level this way. IF all you want to do is PVP you can have a lot of fun this way. You have to watch out though. If you do the BG pve quests you can level up too quickly and before you know it, you will be kicked out of that BG. Heh.
If you like pve there are tons of new and neat quests to do. The new EPIC QUESTS are cool. First one in hibernia is bugged though. But just like in Warhammer, there are several different ways to level. If you take the quests to level it can be very fun and something to add to your story in the game. I mean just through level 25 he had to have like 50 quests or more done and he did not even finish many of them. Very nice. Just take your time and enjoy them.
Finally the battles themselves. Same good ole battles, what DAOC is all about.
From level 1 to level 30, which he is now, he said there were lots of people in those BGs, especially in the mornings and evenings.
So it's good to see DAOC is still active like this. He went to Druim Ligen just to look around. Still tons of druid bots. I am wondering if half of the 750 peeps still playing are druid bots. Heh.
Either way he is having fun. I wish I would have kept my account now. I had over 400k BP's on Deerhunter. Damn it. lol.
End of Line.

Me and a few friends decided to roll mids yesterday and we did the bg's 1-36 in roughly 6-7 hours
We had a lot of fun due to the mix of pve/pvp and I think the whole idea of being able to lvl quickly and get some decent armor to get you through without much work is what made it that bit more entertaining.
Thid/Molvik are a pain though - This is mainly due to the number of people that template to stay there and also the low number of mobs in comparison to the amount of players in there.
If they up the mob spawn rate in those BG's then the whole 1-50 BG grind will be alot more fun

I skip thid and do the new pve quests for 20-24, then back to the BG's.
Molvik is not too bad really if you find an XP grp

I just run the tower suicide quests in Molvik. Usually you can do it succesfully about 4 out of 5 runs but if you get unlucky then you could be there for quite a while wasting your time.

This is the kind of thing that needs to be recorded and edited into videos over and over again instead of all the junk solo and 8v8 fights. Tell a story of this and that class teaming up and rising through the ranks and the real (and relatively quick) actual progress made on a set of characters.
That kind of thing would be very marketable for new players coming into the game.

Drithe sighting.
Funny thing, I clicked on the post without looking at the name of the poster. Read the post and then at the end of the post I read, "End of line" and was like, no.. it can't be. Sure enough it was Drithe and after all these years he still finishes his posts the same way. That's some consistency.

1-39 in about 6 or less hours, and hit RR2.
In Molvik was not as bad as others mentioned. We had some great fights over the
mobs and got realm points! Imagine that....

My God, I just started downloading the client and haven't been here in years. Nice to see some of the same old names, like Drithe! I still hold to hope that someday before I die (hopefully a long time away from that) there will be a DAOC 2. Never had the fun in ANY MMO since the early days of Dark Age.

I was lurking around the internets a couple months ago about the time the buzz started ramping up about the 10 year anniversary. With whistful sighs of fond pre-TrialsOfAgony memories I looked up the herald and started reading the patch notes. When I got to 1.109 I was “like woahâ€. Then when 1.110 went up on Pend I thought to myself “Self, you need to check this out again, this sounds decentâ€. I figured it wasn’t gonna break my budget for a look.
At the end of it all, with gear and advanced game concepts being spoon fed, THIS is the game I wanted to play 10 years ago. I can level up through PvE or RvR, have gear that’s “good enough†to do it, and if I start thinking about templates etc I can buy it with BPs.
I rerolled my Ranger (old account is long gone, so extended the name to Ernathenriar) and by level 29 with several XP off stints for BP scroll farming along the way already had a house, consignment merchant, crafting setup, and several plat to spare. Gear was up to date, and now I am in the low 40s with ML3 farming up for ML5+Template Artis when I graduate to CV. I dont feel hurried or rushed because I was able to get an animist from 1-50 in a weekend, pugging it along the way in BGs, so my Ranger I am building slowly and patiently, and having a blast doing it. I am very pleased with the state of the game, and the population health of the megacluster. I can have fun again without turning the game into an e-sport, be it through PvE like a job or RvR like a sports team (although there is nothing stopping me from playing that way if I choose).
The game feels worth the money again, at least it does to me. I just hope EA doesnt tombstone this title the same way they did to Earth and Beyond, it just started getting fun again!
