Why would they shut down DAOC when there is no other MMO on the market like it?


The only MMO that will cause DAOC to be shut down is DAOC 2.....and that's if.


DAOC will never receive an abundance of new players to get the active population to even 10k.


One; most that do try the game get turned off buy the UI and combat mechanics.


Two; the majority of the playerbase are pricks and push newcomers away.


Still like I said the game isn't going anywhere because it's one of a kind.

So you want the company that basically no longer exists, to make a DAoC2? Well lets see...they tried with that 100+million dollar flop they called Warhammer. Second, all the people primarily responsible for creating DAoC has long left the company, or now works for Bioware's division. Mythic is nothing more than a skeleton crew keeping DAoC and Failhammer in maintenance modes. Otherwise its pretty much been dissolved by EA.

What other games are seriously worth playing? I tried every MMO involving some form of PvP there's been up until a couple years ago and all of them sucked massively in comparison.

Who says that even if Mythic still existed that a new game would be as good as DAoC?

So if we start a new server or wipe characters to 'even the playingfield' do we need to do it every time there a new player starts?

2) The turd-like game mechanics of the current flock of steaming piles of FTP games heaped upon unsuspecting new players do not show how strategically one must think and act to do well in DAoC. Zergs and stealthers not withstanding.

Spoonfeed enough crappy game mechanics from newer games and player will expect crappy game mechanics henceforth.

You might be right but the combat mechanics are what make DAOC the best PvP game there is. Don't you feel like a retard playing whack-a-mole in other games? The closest game I've played to good combat mechanics was AoC but they really needed to get rid of those ridiculous combos and just go with DAoClike reactionaries and positioonals. It really made it stupid fighting a healer/dps class(hello ToS!) that wasn't limited by combos.

If you want the game to die, why not just leave?

With this kind of attitude, I doubt you'll be missed!

The combat is what makes the game the game. It's the reason why daoc videos are so fun to watch.
