I'll help you out cernos, I have a little fight left in me.

The issue is that - excluding necros - out of the 13 caster classes, one of them has to spec for bladeturn. 12 don't, one does.

It used to be 11-2. Theurgs were explicitly changed (can't find the patch notes, but I believe it wasn't a "class balance" patch, and it was just thrown in because it was noted as a pre-existing oversight). RM's were left the same, an oversight on the fix of another oversight.

It doesn't matter if its at 2, 10, 19, 40, or 50. They have to spec for it while no other cloth wearing class does. I appreciate you playing devil's advocate boxy, was fun.

Honestly I see both sides of the agrument but the point it its not a big deal... Its not a big deal if its level 1 and its not a big deal if its level 2. this entire post is pointless.
