A Suggestion for Cathal Valley |
How about allowing people who are level 50 and under RR4L9 to voluntarily demote themselves to level 49. They can lose all their champion levels in the process, and even be required to retemplate as bonus level 50 items won't affect them.
I recently started playing in Cathal Valley and it has been a lot of fun since its easy to find action. I also think it is beneficial to play up to RR5 without bringing your group down in the process because of your low RR. For example, consider a class that is fun to play but you have no desire of ever getting them to high RR where they can be competitive (I have lots of these), then CV is the perfect place to have fun while bridging a bit of the RR gap at the same time.
I feel this might be a problem to code because your level is connected to all the quests that you have. So maybe its not a realistic idea, even if it is a good one.
Many people have suggested allowing all level 50 pre-RR5 toons to go into CV. I'm not convinced this is a good idea, since CV is simplified due to available items, and I kind of like this. You also have to figure out Master Level issues, and for a battleground I prefer a simplified game with just ML 1-5. It would also make the battleground into a complete zergfest and really ruin any chances you have of finding some fast group vs. group fights.
Well let me know what you think. And please refrain from posting nothing else but "No."

You will basically have to reroll another character, really doesnt take that long anymore to levelup.
Many times in the CV thread i've seen folks ask for help leveling a character for CV, so try that for even faster leveling

Well if you wish to stick to one realm and you already have a level 50 of every class on that realm, and templated, but most are under RR4, then its kind of annoying. Honestly I have no problem leveling up a few toons for CV and doing it the hard way, but I literally have 8-9 toons that I would have a blast with playing through CV up to RR5, and I can't justify rerolling all of those toons, especially when my CV toons will eventually be better. Then you have the problem of having doubles of 50's on two separate servers, and that is annoying, especially when i've already been forced to use two different Ywain servers just to play all of my Hibs.
So its not one of those, 'the world is going to end if you don't change this' complaints. I'm just suggesting something that would make my experience a lot more fun, and if there is enough people like me out there, then I think Mythic should look at the pro's and con's and give it some consideration.

For the most part no, i'm not talking about perma-CV toons. I would probably leave just a couple of them in there, the others I would get to RR5, and then who knows, I would probably take them out to NF once in a while but of course most of them would still not be played seriously. If I was just making perma-CV toons then I would have no problem rerolling.
But mainly I want to play the toons that I wouldn't take too seriously in NF, because like I said there's a lot of classes that are just fun to play even if not so effective.
It could keep me busy for quite a while getting them all to RR5, and I would have a lot of fun in the process (this is the main reason I suggest this idea). If the quality of RvR gets better than that would make perma-CV toons more attractive, but realistically if you run a good setup, all of your enemies will log in about 30 minutes. Perhaps this would change if more experienced people could bring some of their alts that they never really played into the BG without having to start from scratch.

I understand where your coming from, but those characters that are already 50lvl will now have to compete in NF or other PvP/RvR areas to obtain RR5. I myself also have characters that I’d like to reach RR5 so that I’d gain the special class ability but I wouldn’t necessarily want to play them in NF, if I did it would be rarely and for kicks, or guild runnings.
Previously in another thread I made a suggestion about awarding RR5 to characters when they reached 50lvl. Mainly because unlike back in the day when all the BG where really active you could hit RR5 fairly easy. Then when they all died, any characters made after that would likely arrive in NF @ RR3 from capping out in Molvik. The activity in CV is a fairly recent thing, and is still from my point of view difficult to guage how long it will remain active.
Maybe the implementation of a new quest to get RR5 for those 50lvl characters that will rarely see NF action? Not likely, but hey, we can dream haha
Though honestly at the moment it seems our only option is to reroll the characters in question to obtain RR5 while there is some activity in CV. Yes its a lot more work and I also feel a bit ripped by it all, not to mention a total waste of time to redo characters that we already have leveled but it is what it is
Here’s hoping your thread will draw more attention /bow

Once again I stress that its more about the fun I can have along the way than it is about simply getting the character to RR5. I can live with a big RR gap in NF if I wanted to play a character seriously, it wouldn't take much time to start closing the gap, and frankly its something that everyone had to do at one point, so why shouldn't you have to do it?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience in CV lately, so much so that I'm getting all these crazy idea's of what classes to level up next, and then i'm disappointed that I already have those classes at 50, and now they are doing nothing, I don't care about their RR, it's just that they are doing nothing and I could be having fun with them trying out new things in CV.
