Is there no way to mitigate this?

I recently put together that nice Mentalist healing/duration template that’s here on the forum. Thing is I swear it seemed that within 3 day (couldn’t have been more than 5 tops) that I happened to mouse over the staff and it was at 70%! What the hell is up with that!

I dpn’t mind some micromanagement, done it for years in many PC games (where there’s oftentimes even more). But there is such a thing as to much micromanagement. I was thrilled when they added a larger lockbox to houses, though I prefer none at all, just have me receive less dropped gold regardless of whatever character I’m playing on the account. But having only to pay rent every 2 months is fine.

I understand the game has to have Money Sinks, but I rather not have to continuously keep repairing gear just to maintain a respectable level of efficiency or competiveness. I’ve no issues replacing items to maintain the Money Sink, but I rather have the items durability slowly degrade but still maintain its high quality, then replace the item sometime later when its maximum durability level has been exceeded. I guess there are issues because there are many items that never need to be repaired and replaced regardless of their quality level, and other items don’t degrade at all because they are simply equipped but never actually used.

Nowadays many of us have lots of characters, even if we only play a single realm. We have real lives and try to fit in and maintain our gaming so that we are actually playing the game and having fun. I rather not have to waste time continuously repair gear.

I understand that there are perhaps better/other things people rather see mythic resources spent on but these things need to be brought to light so that if and when they are looking over the code, they might be able to make some changes if they are in that code area anyways.

So how often do you find yourself repairing gear?

At what level do you go and repair your gear?

Depends on the item.

Weapons (yes, staves count) - about 97-98%.

Armour - 93-95%.

Everything else - 70%, if it has skills on it, never otherwise.

I would suggest rereading the thread a bit slower, but in a nutshell “Nowadays many of us have lots of characters, even if we only play a single realm. We have real lives and try to fit in and maintain our gaming so that we are actually playing the game and having fun. I rather not have to waste time continuously repair gear.”

I feel it’s a little ridiculous to have to repair gear every 2-3 days

70% condition in 3-5 days sounds unusual, but Im sure there is an explanation. I assume that you are level 50?

One thing I have noticed is that all spells including buffs will wear down your staff. This is not the case for "normal" healing classes (who use 1h weapon + shield). If you use your mentalist for PvE and spam your HoT spell frequently then your staff will wear down rather quickly.

Are you sure it wasn't already near 70% when you got it? I find it hard to believe this if you're level 50, even my Thid casters using level 50 staves didn't get them to 70% in that short a period of time. My farming Ment which casts a ton of heals and HoTs has never come close to having a stave that low in such a short period of time. I usually repair a weapon or staff at 98% but to be honest with a staff it takes a LONG time to get to 98% compared to a weapon so sometimes I forget to check and it might drop to as low as 95% after a few months. I find repairing gear to be a non-issue, it's not exactly expensive or hard to do and in all the years I've played I can probably count on one hand how many times I actually wore out an item that had to be replaced(on a level 50 toon). It's like a computer, I usually upgrade long before it has a chance to fail.

Thxs for the feedback

i am 50lvl and have been doing the picts over at innas, using a blockbot. I've been throwing Dots mainly (and the staff was new when i started of course). I just checked and it and its already down to 95% and i've only been at it again maybe 2 maybe 3 days. I'm mainly doing the picts while i earn champs xp, yeah i know i could make champ xp other ways faster. I'll be using the character later with a chanter so will be mainly Hots at that point.

Guess Dots are rough on staffs, oh well.
