Im looking for a new t.v.

I want a nice 52-55" t.v. to hang on the wall. My family and i are casual t.v. watchers and i would be using it for xbox/ps3 as well.

I was looking at spending about $1500 give or take $200. I heard plasmas are very nice as well as the led backlit lcds.

I am looking at the Samsung PND7000 series and the Panasonic GT and VT series. I heard they use a lot of p0wer as well as may ghost images onto the screen if your not careful. I have never owned a plasma t.v.

I was looking at the Sony EX720 as well.

Can anyone help me out on this please. Thanks

not a very helpful hint but check out newegg. I picked up a recertified 47'' lcd tv for $400. So can save a ton of money if you want to downgrade a tiny bit. Works great!

bought a 52 plasma last year. Saved a ton of money versus led's. The new ones don't burn images on the screen and don't put off near as much heat as the older plasmas. Very happy with mine.

If you plan to game then plasma all the way, if you don't plan to game then plasma all the way. The old plasma's use to burn but new ones don't have that issue anymore. I have a 58 inch Samsung and it's by far the best TV for the price I have ever bought. The wife has left shows on pause for very long periods of time (which pisses me off) and once you hit play it takes a few seconds to correct the burn and you are fine. The viewing angles are awesome and response times can't be beat. The technology is mature and straight forward so it's a safe investment. Personally I love Samsung, if you go with a cheaper brand I don't know if the quality is the same.

The only reason why you should not buy a plasma is if you are at high altitude like in Denver or the mountains.. then tend to hum there but at regular altitude you are fine. In terms of power I haven't noticed my bill go up at all.. maybe a couple bucks?

Keep in mind almost everything I said here on these forums has come true exactly as I said and I was laughed at and insulted,
as usual. --Xalaten

Bought a panasonic 50" GT the other day, will be hooking it up this weekend. Have only heard good things about them, got it for 1100.

Had a good demo of the GT vs ST that really convinced me to go that route.

Keep in mind Plasmas are going out and LED's are taking front row so eventually you will not see plasmas anymore thus the reason they dropped in price so much.

You CAN get LED's for cheap you just gotta know how to shop.

On a side note they really need to conquer the motion blur/studder on these LED's once and for all.

We did buy this one it was around 2400$ then its on sale now for 1600$ and if you get it through the internet discount you can get it for 1300$ with tax. I thought it was worth it also like to add I seen NO difference between the 120 hz and 240 hz and this LED is a 3d TV.

It uses the same 3d glasses as the theaters.

Grabbed a Panasonic 60" Plasma a few months back from Costco for ~900 + tax, and I love it.

- No more input lag (fighting game on PS3)
- Large Screen
- Affordable
- does not work well in bright room

Panasonic isn't that good of a company anymore it's kinda like sony they used to be "the" thing to buy back years ago but companies change and sometimes for the worst.

That LG I posted works fantastic in a bright room and it's 2d to 3d ability is amazing.True 3d is REALLY amazing.

Once you go 60" and up the pic quality IMO starts to go downhill for that size a screen you would have to go above the 1080p resolution to get it looking great again.

Yes Plasma TV's still burn in, but its not like it used to be. Most come with a program like a screen saver that you can use if you do get burn in to fix it. Really not a concern these days.
