Hey guys, I'm a new player thinking of playing daoc, I was wondering if the player base is still significant and which server is most active.

There's only one server, Ywain, and it's broken into 10 parts so you can have more characters and more houses and stuff.

The population is pretty good.

dont try mordred. play Ywain. don't play Ywain1 or 2 (shortage of housing). As already mentioned, all the Ywains are the same server with exception of housing.

Player base is insignificant. Most people (and this is a huge generalization) don't like to group with anyone they don't know, even in new MMOs. So asking whether or not there is a large player base is not the true question you were asking. I think what you want to know is if DAoC has enough people playing it, that if you were playing it too, you would be cool by playing this game and have something to talk about the next day at the "watercooler".


Fact is, DAoC is just so damn good, you'll be the most popular guy ever because you won't be playing a mainstream game that everyone else is. Hardcore will be your new title. Your lunch in the office fridge will become off limits because you are just too cool. And your boss will not only shoot the breeze with you, but give you hand gestures that support your hardcore new identity.

Well that's an interesting theory. But no, I really do want to know about the player base. In a game that prides itself on RvR, the player base is essential. I don't want to dive into a game that has no players.

since the clusters and euro servers all got combined. there are people playing around the clock. average last time i checked was around 1500. and even for 3 realms, thats enough to keep you busy on 1 server. as for the leveling to 50 aspect. you really need no ones help since its been put in easymode to get people to big boy rvr quicker.bg quests can get you to cap in 1-2 days depending on how much you play.
this is my opinion and my observation on the subject.
others may have different input. or may not agree.
but yes. lots of people. lots of fun :-)

What interests me is that the same people who cry about "lack of players" or "need more new players"

Are the the same people that, when a new player comes along, give them a totally cuntish answer towards starting up.


To answer the OP... yes there is a perfectly fine player base. Alb/Mid are going to be your more friendly realms in terms of getting groups as a "newbie nobody" but honestly, there's plenty of action for any playstyle no matter what realm you choose.

Just make sure you take advantage of leveling through the battlegrounds in order to understand your character properly for when you finally hit 50.

You have 3,000 people create an account, be dedicated Morded and then maybe people will leave Ywain for Morded.
