IP bans are NEVER a good idea... NEVER
you could ban whole continents on accident.... VN did a few years ago, they IP Banned 1 guy, and accidently banned most of canada.. because that 1 guy was using a gateway that most of canada used
or if the people are using IPV6 they route through a IPV4 gateway to get to mythic, sense mythic isnt on IPV6 so you'll ban a large section of people using IPV6
IP bans are so easily avoided, and can cause so much trouble.. its never a good idea to IP ban.
someone IP bans me, i just pull the plug on my cable modem, plug it back in, comcasts DHCP server will just issue me a new IP address... could be the same one, could be some other comcast user ends up with the 1 i had... and poof, someone else is banned and im not...

Bingo,also you can just call the provider and make up a excuse that your getting DoS attacks or w/e and get your ip changed in a matter of minutes or.... you can just drive by with a laptop using a good WI/FI get around hospitals,library's,hotels,schools/college's hell even neighborhoods and grab a wireless signal and go to town.
You would be surprised how most never secure (or know how to secure) their wireless internet 
No matter what though there is always a way around IP bans.

Remove access to region/advice chat from trial accounts. It's what WoW did.
Also, just add their websites to the spam filter.
I have no moral objection to them selling gold, but I'd prefer they didn't spam it.

Sure and make DAoC more beginner unfriendly with shutting them out because of the goldspammers...
OK I'm annoyed as well with this... but hey... goldspammers... means DAoC is still alive and kicking =)
A filter would be great though... everything with eggpal swoosh down the drain...

Anything lvl 10 or lower, block them from /reg outside of the starter zone
Allow them to use /adv only outside the training zone
I wouldn't have an issue with that tbh
After all, what else would they need big boy /reg for besides /adv?

No one helps in advice anyway. Certainly not on Mid or Alb.
Try it.
Log on a guildless low level, ask a noob question, and see how much help you get.
No one will miss it.

LOLOLOLOLOL..  What makes you think they have a static IP address?
Stop. Just stop. You are digging the wrong way chief.
Just ban all of Asia, problem solved. As a side affect we will finally get rid of those pesky guilds like Eastern Wind that ninja everything during the times of day that the majority of players aren't even online.
ps. I know that mentioning Eastern Wind a probably current dead guild shows my ignorance of present day DaoC culture.
