Back in the day had a character named Scro, so naturally last name was going to be Dumb for Scro Dumb. I made it to like level 10 and the very first person I grpd with that day appealed it. Within a few hours got the email that it was being changed to something stupid. Back then they actually cared about /appeals. I see names all the time nowadays that would have been changed so quick in the beginning.
Funny thing is, I deleted that character right after this happened and made a Blademaster. Used the random name generator and it popped out Tralasa. In every game since then my characters have had Tral in them. I still play that blademaster!!!

I had a similar run in with the naming dept and Samuel L Makely at Mythic. He was basing his decisions on names from an online urban dictionary that stated clearly on the website to "Define Your World" so anyone could add any word and give it any definition which could put you in violation of the TOS. Apparently he didn't want to deal with a customer that had common sense and quit responding to my emails.

I believe that Sanya did intervene and get the player their name back.
There was also a case where a player called “Pub†as in ‘drinking establishment’ (and variations on “Pubâ€) that was appealed and the player lost their name for a bit because some idiot thought “Pub†meant pubic. Sanya also corrected that injustice.
Today though, I believe the player would be stuck because there do not seem to be any advocates that we can plead our case.

They changed about 10-12 of my characters names like 2-3 months ago. I was pretty mad, although some of them were a bit much - I hadn't played most of them in years. I felt violated though  |

i killed some baddie in CV and he switched over to alb and started flipping out and he appealed my name.
mine was dangerousminority? i forget something like that, but the person that appealed me was named something along the lines of semanalflooids i forget the exact spelling, but, i find it lame that i got my name changed but that guy was still running around with his name in tact >.>
