only once a week? ... seems like more often.

They're not gonna make it free when they don't have to. They must have enough subs to be profitable.

Totally agree. That was mythic trying to make the game more like WoW.

Nowadays I don't know if Mythic or EA is to blame. If Mythic had used the money they splurged on Warhammer to promote DAoC instead that would have helped. But I don't know, I don't think they'd been able to get that funding unless it was tied to such an intellectual property.

Imo it is mostly MJ’s fault with a lot of blame on Mythic and almost no blame to be put on EA, except that EA was clueless enough to not see how incompetent MJ was in his egocentric handling of Mythic. EAs only fault was in not getting rid of MJ as soon as they could but they waited until both DAoC and WH were beyond repair.
It was MJ that squandered the profits of DAoC on Imperator (Limperator). It was MJ that squandered the profits of DAoC on a gargantuan sized WH development team. It was MJ that drove Mythic to the point of financial despair where the only way to finish WH was to sell Mythic to EA. It was MJ that took EAs money, grew the gargantuan WH team to ludicrous size and, even after there was more than adequate funding of WH, MJ continued to cannibalize the DAoC team to feed the WH development monster.
While much of the blame can be placed directly onto MJ, we can see that MJ’s psychosis had/has also infected the general Mythic structure. Most recently I would point to the ludicrous implementation of something so simple as the Pendragon Ring. I would also point to the continual Mushroom method of Mythic dealing with its customers. I would point to continual bugs being ignored. I would point to. . well the multitude of things I could point to sadly could fill books. Mythic’s continual incompetent method of dealing with its customers is a legacy left by MJ.
EAs only fault in the debacle was in not seeing MJ as the problem and, after finally realizing that MJ was the problem and getting rid of MJ, in not being able to restructure Mythic so as to remove MJ’s harmful influence in the structure of Mythic (and in seemingly allowing Mythic to infect Bioware because Bioware now seems to operate just like the old self-destructive Mythic used to operate).
So most of the fault would imo fall on MJ with the unfortunate Mythic picking up and running with the bad habits they were taught by MJ. I know that many do not like EA but in this situation EA mostly received guilt by association (while attempting to simply be the good Samaritan and help Mythic out of financial trouble).

Alright mate, i have come back to use the 14 days free trial, i did this around a year ago as well, but i was too busy to play the game back then. So really its been 2 or more years.
Basically from my 14 days as a solo infil.
Constant keep taking tower taking in NF, alot of Dock camping and a few groups running around, you will find solo'ers on beno/bled/Dc bridge but they will add on everything they see. Realm points are slow this way, but the group rvr seems good, as well as the small group rvr, due to the sieging etc.
In labby, i never have been to labby before this really, as on my cluster (dyvet) was usually empty. Its zerg add central, no skill involved just quick rps from Rs players, you get a duel area in Neth south which is good, ive seen many 8v8 fights in the hub but after a while it turns to zergs. And one realm dominates the entire lab with zergs.
Community wise, if you make a new character you can easily find a group to level up with almost instantly and they are all very helpful i love this new layout for new players and existing to make new characters.
People in general seem nice, very helpful if you dont know the new stuff, so thankyou for that everyone i have talked to.
Although there are a few Tw*ts in this game now as well, the l33ts as usual are still around annoying the tits off everybody with their l33tness, the 15 year old kids are acting like prats ( hello Phinitar) or the people that think they are right all the time and its probably the most annoying thing ever ( Rezenkai ive got 80% evade rate in this temp, i lost this duel to you coz my temp aint meant for fights against albs, i have 425 strength without aug strength) is a prime example.
Basically come back to this game, make friends with a guild ( extremely easy as alot of people are friendly) and you will have fun. I enjoyed my time here for the 14 days and has been great, its so much more accessible and i like that.
Fyi, if i was really bad in fights its probs coz you were strafing, its not that i cant counter strafe its the fact i was trying to get used to the game and i am duel logging on a 0.4mb internet, its difficult to win in fights haha.
Another thing housing market sucks pehnis.
