Actually, in MMORPGs, the popularity of a class in a 10 year old game is definitely a good indicator of it's quality. Especially when no (or very few) elite player choose the toon.

How about answering the keybindings question now?

Could be wrong but I think that RM is a very popular class!

We are talking about SUPP SPEC RMS, not the other specs which are worthy.

Now back to the keybinding?

To be fair, you typed:

So two years later you can still ignore it? Zing.

Ok give this a go, but it will always require whatever group you join to give you time to setup.

The command we’ll use is /target <players name>, which we’ll use with a /macro command. The %T is used to auto insert a players name. I believe /target has a range but I’ve no idea what it is as I’ve only toyed with it in TNN, it may also require LOS as well.

As I previously mentioned we’ll need to make a /macro that makes another /macro for us to place on the appropriate qbar slot, so…

/macro <macro name> /macro <macro name> /target %T, this is your main /macro

I’d recommend using a clean qbar for your /qbinds, assigning slot1 to player 1, slot 2 to player 2 and so forth, following suit with the F keys for the /qbind keystroke

The main /macro can also be /qbind or placed on slot 10 of the above qbar since you’ll have to goto that qbar anyways to drop in you /target macros

Usage: Target a player in your group and click your main /macro’d key, this should generate a /macro <macro name> /target <players name> which you simply drop into your pre-assigned /qbind qbar slots.

sigh... thanks for the feedback on the keybinds. That's what I figured. You literally had to type the players in-game name to set up the keybinding. I thought you could set up a macro for the generic group target 1, group target 2, etc....

Yes, I know there is a keyboard configuration to do it, but that keyboard configuration saves across all your toons. So you have to keep changing it when logging on alts. The /qbind macros are specific to each individual toon. That's why I wanted a generic target group member 1 macro :-(

Oh well, guess I'll give up the mending class. I only have one in cathal valley. It's enjoyable, but not worth all the aggravation it causes with my other toons.

RM's aren't popular and there's a mending class. I had no idea I was such a noob.

You aren't a noob.

You simply need to learn better reading habits. Then again you sound like a politician who only discusses partial truths on what people say.

Anyway, done with this topic. I got my answer. There is no way to /qbind the generic target group member macro unless you type in the specific group member.

To reiterate, his reading is fine because you typed toon, not spec. DON'T MAD, K?

I believe that what Simon387 had previously meant (but stated in short form) was: The user.dat file stores the universal keyboard settings. To change and store different universal keyboard settings you can create/save a user.dat file for each character and then switch user.dat files depending on which character that you intend to play.

Create the keyboard setup for a character.

Log out

Save the user.dat file (copy it to a backup folder and change the name to <characters name>.dat so that you can easily remember which character the backup is to be used with.

Then log in to a different character and create the keyboard setup for that toon

Log out

Save that user.dat file (copy it to a backup folder and change the name to <characters name>.dat so that you can easily remember which character the backup is to be used with.

Continue with each toon that you need a specific and unique keyboard setup for.

Then when you want a keyboard setup for a specific toon, before you log into the game you simple need to copy the toons user.dat file to the folder where the games user.dat file is stored and then change the <characters name>.dat file to user.dat (you will need to delete the existing user.dat before changing <characters name>.dat to user.dat) and when you log in you will have a unique and specific keyboard setup designed for that toon.

Swapping the user.dat file with a character specific backup is not difficult. You can make the change manually or you can create a set of .bat files that will make the change by simply pressing a single key.

In my world of half-truths I've found that understanding the difference between spec and class and toon and account pretty useful.

Sorry if it's not in yours.
