So, I have been looking at guild wars 2 a lot the past few days and I must say I get a real doc vibe from it. For those of you that don't know anything about it I will give you a quick run down of some of the announced features.

1. 3 sided world v world combat that puts 3 servers against each other in a zone with 4 areas. 1 home area with a keep a 'camps' for each server that can be invaded, and 1 central area that is the only way to move from each home area to the next, that also has a keep and series of small camps.
2. Any character of any level may participate in World v world and are boosted in stats only (not skills) to Max level. Players boosted will be much weaker than naturally higher level characters but still capable of participating and possibly defeating higher levels if extremely more skilled or with larger numbers. Ie, a natural 40 is stronger than natural lvl 20, and a natural lvl 80 would be stronger than a 40.
3. A smaller number of players can defeat a much larger number of players if exhibiting much higher levels of skill(and possibly better attribute setups and gear)
4. Relics type items that give server wide bonuses can be found in the wvw zone and are protected by a boss npc and once claimed can be protected in keeps.

I'm excited!

Forgot to mention, I saw a few places to where there were bridges that afaik you have to cross in order to get some areas or at least it much faster to take them, and from the video I saw its very easy to funnel a zerg into it chasing you and shower them with spells like aoe root traps and impassible walls that can let you 'get them where and how you want them'

Yogscast has a few videos, including 2 detailing the WvW system. I am looking forward to this game more than any other since DAoC. WvW is a great idea, though it doesn't do one thing. Give you the ability to make enemies. How the system works is to rate servers and put them up against equally rated server. While I do think this is a good thing as it will keep things even, it doesn't give you a chance to earn enemies. I remember hating Albion enemies while on Midgard Percival... Kobra and Tesfaye to name a couple, as well as Nimue Midgard while on Hib... Ugmug to name another. I loved seeing them in battle, and the rivalries were important.

DAoC- Percival/Midgard - Fist of the North
WAR - Ostermark/Pheonix Throne - Fist of the North/Ravens of War
SWTOR - The Twin Spears/Ajunta Pall - Fist of the North
Lots of other games - Fist of the North

I thought about this too, but since it will keep taking you up in ranks against harder servers until you start losing, I imagine you will tend to face a lot of the same servers once things begin to level out. Plus it should be a lot of fun if 3 servers with big zerg leaders and guilds end up together and just smash into each other while the servers that lack the big zerg leaders and guilds will be able to run lots of smaller groups around to accomplish things. I really have high hopes for this game. I really really hope it doesn't disappoint.

You will also never know the names of your enemies. Enemies are anonymous. I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, it improves sportsmanship. On the other, I recall a few times in Daoc killing a high rr enemy and getting many accolades.

If that's true I'd like to hope they will let you know who your fighting somehow even if its by combat log when you hit or even kill them

The only thing it will have in common with DAOC is the fact that is WvWvW and that is a pretty weak link to daoc.

SWTOR: Commando ~ Operative
DAoC: Hanging on by a Thin Thread
So Lone Starr now you see evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

I think having the same core pvp system is a pretty big comparison
