using 1 word is so much simpler then 3 or more when describing patterns of behavior

but its okay, it doesnt make him sound clever, it just means he has a basic grasp on the english language...

wich is more then i can say for myself (or most of the posters on this board), my english and writing skills are horrid.

So instead of just saying they have,

“a faulty paradigm”

I should have said,

“concerning DAoC you have an incorrect philosophical and/or theoretical framework of theories, concepts, and generalizations which lead to incorrect (and harmful) suggestions concerning what is good for the game.”

“a faulty paradigm” is so much easer to type .

I am by no means a scholarly person (spell check is my friend and even using spell check I often make mistakes that others politely pretend to ignore). I am sorry if you think I am being pretentious or a snob when I use that word but I learned it many decades ago and I sometimes find that it nicely fits the situation. It is just another word to me.

The OP seems to have an incorrect concept of what will be the most benefit for the game and what will be the most benefit for the players. At least part of the OPs incorrect concept seem to be built on an incorrect idea of what a typical MMO player needs in a game vs. what the OP would like to see for them-self in a game. To me, “a faulty paradigm” just seemed to be an accurate and quick way of saying what I was observing.

While I admire your passion for the game KaneJS, unfortunately there is no profit left to be made with DAoC if they spend money re-releasing it. It's just not worth the time when they have newer and better projects to focus resources on.

The truth is DAoC began dieing around 9 to 12 months after launch. Yep, that is what I said and the population charts show it.

For the first 9 to 12 months the game was growing at about 20k subs per month. At around the 12th month mark the population suddenly leveled off. It is highly unlikely that the influx of 20k per month suddenly went to zero. More likely is the influx remained at around 20K per month and the game suddenly began bleeding as many as were coming to the game.

Do you have a link to these numbers? I know we are going back a decade but I seem to remember them announcing a milestone, (300k subscribers or something like that) and I was sure it was well into the SI years.

Sadly, I must agree with everything else in your posts.

The site www.mmogchart.com is no longer up but we can still see it in the archived wayback info.

That's kinda cool. I can't believe EQ spiked in late 05. I left it for daoc and it felt like it was kinda done by then

Although what you said isn't what the charts show I am inclined to agree with you as variables like buff bot accounts and European/Asian releases aren't accounted for separately.

With PL a toon can hit 50 in less than 12 hrs.

Just so you know I got my new Warlock to 50 in two and a half hours, PL'd by Warlock with block bot to 45 then TOA glass quests for the rest. It's crazy fast.

Where was this done?

whats the source of that chart on wikipedia though?

cause it doesnt seem to reflect the same data as mmogchart's did.. .and sir bruce, the guy in chart of mmogchart was well established as an industry expert at the time and put alot of effort in tracking and analyzing subcription trends in MMO's

cause that wiki link shows a severe decline over a year sooner then MMOGchart
