In all the years of DAoC one thing I found that separates the DAoC players from the players of many other games is the effort that the DAoC players will put forth to improve the game, to create programs for players to use, to create better maps, to test on Pendragon, to improve the Herald, etc. . . .

... these are just a few things used daily in my house by me and my room mates.... and its only a small sample of them...

and theres simular for almost EVERY MMO out there... so DAoC is definately far from unique in reguard to players dedicating freetime to make apps and guides...

I did not say that other games have little or no player-generated stuff. Never said it.

Yes other games have players that create stuff for their game, that is true of any game.

WoW has player created stuff. Based on the amount of things created for DAoC vs. the number of players, compared to the number of players at WoW vs. the amount of player generated stuff at WoW, I have always been surprised at the comparatively small amount of stuff WoW players have created for their game (based on WoW having over 10 million subs).

DAoC players seem to have been much more involved with the game. I am not saying that isolated players at other games have not been great contributors to those other games, just that it seems DAoC players do more than I would have guessed when looking at player created things at other games.

you were implying DAoC had a greater number of players doing it, wich is incorrect, most apps and websites for daoc were created when it still had 200k subs, eq2 has just as much if not more player made content...

and your also completely wrong about WoW... theres an insane amount of addons for wow and a bunch of utils out there i just found by searching wow utils...

your just more familar with DAoC so can probly name/think of more stuff for it...

there are 2 online radio stations for eve online, neweden radio, wich is only on the weekends.. and eve radio, wich is always on, and has dozens of DJs that volunteer 3+ hrs a week to run it, gets over 1k in donations a month from listeners...

i loved daoc, it was a great game while they were still adding content and doing stuff with it...

but daoc's playerbase isnt any more special or dedicated then any other games

I think the chances of the website being 100% functional like everyone wants it are slim to none. In fact, Bioware/EA whoever runs daoc will probably just pull the plug on the entire game first.

Gotta say, I played DAoC for years, when everyone I was friends with left the game, I moved over to WOW bacause I knew people there.

Though, every once in a while I miss Dark Age....then I went to the Herold one day...wow...new site...1o year anniversary...wow..they are putting effort into the game!

...then I started clicking on things...."site under construction"..."site under construction"..."site under construction"...

Oh well...

In terms of player involvement Eve is probably the posterchild of mmorpgs.

The lack of .... life signs really is telling.

For those of you who complain about this stuff, make your voice heard and stop giving them your money. Complaining on VN will do nothing.

I presume this is the "official" wiki?

http://camelotherald.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Age_of_Camelot_Wiki

This should have happened six years ago.

Is there some sort of secret reality-distortion field in the northern Appalachians that makes people think it's still 2004?

Folks, here's how you can help:

1) Find a bug or glitch that's been in the game ffoorreevveerr. No exploits! Choose something simple, say, a crafting item that has had the wrong recipe for ten years.

2) Join the wiki.

3) Find the page that is most relevant to the bug. Like: Crafting!

4) Edit the page, explain the bug, illustrate work-arounds if there are any. Write clearly.

5) Ask for approval.

DON'T DEFICATE: EDUCATE!
