All a game needs to be successful is a short race. And I don't mean by a sliding meter, however GW2 will have that, but as well as a short race. Lets take a look at the evidence:

EQ: had halflings, gnomes, and dwarves the game was wildly successful, decayed to time.
DAoC: Kobolds, Lurikeen, and Dwarves, the game was successful, decayed to time. (inconnu aren't counted, they is ugly)
WoW: Dwarves and Gnomes, the game was massively successful, still holding on. Why? New expansion had Goblins.

The evidence is clear my friends, an MMO that upon release has a short race, wins. It's exact science and cannot be disproved.

Edit to add: All games do better with gnomes or gnome like creatures. GW2 will have the asura, and while they are not gnomes, they are gnome-like in their love for technology and gizmos. Gnomes improve a games sub base by at least 80%.

Warhammer had dwarves & goblins - didn't work so well there.

They've learned from DAOC. I doubt it will be a disaster. I can't say that it will be a raging success, but GW1 still has a healthy population. Healthy enough to fund GW2. LOL.

This is obviously because in WAR the dwarves and goblins were ugly as sin. Ugliness has to be factored in.

Those that played daoc from beta till darkness rising would recall that DAOC followed an evolutionary
path until sometime around 2008 that the game was finally put on life support.

IMO GW2 would also follow such a path. They have already spent an amazingly high sum on gw2 so it fits
that GW2 is serious on dominating the mmporg market. Whether it can, err, time will tell. Remember, alot
of promising games have come by since DAOC and DAOC, apart from its shity squarish graphics is still
superior in Rvr/Wvwvw mechanics.

Don't use nerd face if you can't spell shitty and a lot right. Specially since they remained after you had edited it.

$200 for the collectors edition!! They must be nuts.

So there's no need to PvE in GW2? You enter PvP and have the same gear as everyone else and all your abilities? Not that I want to PvE but I do like gearing/speccing your toon the way you like.
