Never read the books. Stopped watching the movies after the second one because my wife (girlfriend at that time) stopped making me watch them.

But hey, whatever gets the kids reading these days. Maybe when my daughter grows up a bit I'll get stuck reading them to/for/with her ... hopefully not.

agree that books/films 3 and 4 were the sweet spot of the series :>

[the gripe i mentioned at the end of part 2 was the last little stand-off between harry and voldie. indeed it was supposed to be in the hall, and with everyone around them, and harry delivers an epic pwnage of speech first, about snape and how LV sucks at love, etc. just thought it was way too anticlimactic for the zenith of the film/franchise]

The 3rd movie still remains my favorite... I thought that was just amazingly done, nearly 2.5 hours long if I remember but it was packed and flowed beautifully. To render the time-travel sequence that well was really impressive.

Alfonso Cuaron is awesome. I can't believe he hasn't done a movie since Children of Men. Can't wait to see what he does next.

Yeah, I remember being really disappointed when I learned that he wouldn't be directing the 4th film because of scheduling conflicts. Like I said, 4th film wasn't bad, but I wonder what it would have been like in his hands.
