In thread related news, I've never played but watched a co-worker go through a couple of rounds, seems like a distraction you can pick up and put down pretty fast.

That's cool, not a generalization or anything at all. Dums makes some random comment that you seem to take personal offense to and so i just troll around to prod you a bit and now I'm part of the "bad subset of this board". While yes, i do play and enjoy HoN much more, I bare no ill will towards LoL players (my brother and his friends lan and play all the time, I hang out with them and even watch them play occasionally). There is no reason to be so butt hurt over my comment, but if you like LoL over HoN you are still literally worse than Hitler.

That's cool, not a generalization or anything at all. I never said anything near that. I just said that I would like it if people would actually TALK on this board rather than the usual one sentence post count one-upsmanship, especially when it's clear that I'm trying to find out if anyone here plays or would like to play a game.
You could very easily have posted the positive aspects Heroes of Newerth has over LoL, but chose to just say LOL SUX HON BETTER NOOB. I've never played HoN, and the subscription fee barrier makes me less likely to do so, but if they actually provide better service it might be worthwhile. It looks like it was developed more for DotA purists though, whereas LoL is a natural evolution of the game to capture a wider audience.
Edit: on further analysis it costs 30 bucks straight up for HoN and no subscription. Whoever I got my original info from is a liar!

also, i'm pretty much universally reluctant to try any new game which takes ongoing time, but this one at least sounds promising, if i were to ever pick anything else up besides daoc

Having played near 1000 games in each of the two, I prefer LoL over HoN. I haven't played HoN since it released retail.
