Yes I realized I was purchasing a modern MMO in a sci fi setting.
What's important is the differences, not the similarities. The story driven presentation with all the Bioware polish and the quality of life improvements (companions most notably) seem to be setting things apart in a pretty big way.

companions are fine, the pve is awful, minus the flashpoints (which are cool but get kinda lame later) and the PvP is totally disappointing
there is little difference between spec trees for most classes and the lack of true class diversity is something that is going to really haunt this game

I've heard from many people that have played in the betas and the pre-release that is just another WoW clone. Can't say im surprised, it was pushed out by EA.

loving it so far, every aspect of it, and it is def not a WoW clone. playing imperials on sword of something server with guild. hit lvl 26 and already it feels like i have covered a full games worth of content with a ton to go
