But I don't eat donuts so they would never be part of my wager? Would I instead be betting dollars to bagels or perhaps some other edible treat?
EDIT: No farming here - I am trying to understand an age old saying that has never made sense to me... I am looking for enlightenment, here: on VNLance!

OHHH.... "Dollars to donuts means you wager everything that you own. There is no holding back so to speak. You bet your hard earned cash, your food and anything in between."
I never realized it was stating a range... I thought it was akin to saying "I'm gonna bet MY dollars to YOUR donuts". At that point I'd be saying "  eah I think I'm on the safe end of this bet". |

I bought a doughnut and they gave me a receipt for the doughtnut... I don't need a receipt for the doughnut; I give you money and you give me the doughnut, end of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this.
I can't imagine a scenario that I would have to prove that I bought a doughnut. To some skeptical friend, "Don't even act like I didn't buy a doughnut, I've got the documentation right here... It's in my file at home..."

I was going to make a really filthy donut comment then realized what I was doing so I'll leave that to someone else.

Do you know that I haven't eaten a donut in over 6 years what with trying to be healthy and such?
Now muffins are an entirely different story...
