Gouru does not have a testing group for his plugins, other than himself and possibly his wife. He uses his plugins extensively, so any bugs he comes across he'll fix, but such a limited userbase is always going to have new bugs show up.


It's alpha, and it's new, I mean, I'm not quite sure why you even updated. You had a working set up. If you don't want to be mucking with plugins, I wouldn't suggest being the first line of adopters.

So either he has multiple personalities or seriously pulling your chains.

The problems with ELTank are only showing themselves now as it's clean installs that are triggering the bug. All my testers of course are using PC's that have previous installations of ELTank so none of us ever saw this problem .

It has been tested under a whole host of different situations, just no one thought to test a totally clean install (registry too).

Haz, the likely reason so many people upgraded to Decal 3 Alpha 5b is because they use Tank.


And sometime in the last 20 hours the version of tank that worked with Alpha 3 stopped authenticating, essentially those users were forced to the new alpha if they wished to continue using tank.


I see that as a good thing, as you suddenly got a huge base of Alpha testers. <grin>


But some may not . . . I can understand that.

Decal is a nice tool, but its not required to play the game.


Maybe your lucky they only coded in locking out bad plugins and not stupid users.


How much have you paid to each Decal Dev? How much to each plugin author?


I think maybe just maybe you've gotten more than you paid for, and maybe you should use common sense and look up the word alpha in regards to software.


In the mean time I hope you get carpal tunnel...

wubbie - plugin junkie, guinea pig, master of getting decal to BSOD and just hitting the reset button and moving forward.

This is an ALPHA Release. It LIKELY has bugs. It you have a particular problem with it report it here, on acdev or to the plugin author. Just posting that it crashed , is buggy or generally suck is of no use to anyone. Collect the details, don't just say it crashed; what were you doing when it crashed, what plugins were running. Don't say its buggy, what tells you its buggy give details on how and why you thinks its buggy. Anything less is just a rant and has no place on the AC Utilities board,


These alphas are provided to the public to give us something to work with and hopefully get some use out of in return for some testing information. Many of us Plugin writers do not have the old group of players that used to test our plugins, and many of us don't even play that much anymore. It does not take much to have us just throw in the towel and move on or just go back to making private plugins.
