This is ALPHA that means that anyone who uses it is a guinea pig!

Anyone who does coding knows that ALPHA and Beta are testing phases. END USERS like you should NOT try using these products.

Dev's THANK YOU for all your work.

That's what you get for updating before plugin authors released new versions. We lack sympathy =)

WTH are you talking about? A5b is running better for me than A3 ever did.

Not to mention the new toys (plugins) that were on hold until this release.

Methinks you should just upgrade to Fingers 5.0 and forget Decal, it's SO obviously not for you.

Right, because releasing a much more stable version of Decal is playing around with our code.

Any reason for your outbursts today? Someone in your guild mention Alpha 5 was out and it works great? The wife, did she leave you? Get beat up at school? Someone take your lunch money? Rejected by a girl you like? Terminal arthritis at 30? You can tell us, man, we won't make fun of you, we'll help you work through any lifetime issues you have.

maybe he upgraded to findit beta4 when it was first released and it bombed.

maybe he upgraded to findit beta5 when it was released and it bombed.

maybe he upgraded to eltank 4 and it had memory leaks and bombed.

maybe he upgraded to decal alpha5 and now duallogging bombs or no decal.

maybe he upgraded to eltank 5 cause 4 won't run anylonger and it wont install, has errors and two work arounds already.

THAT being said, haz i'm not hostile towards the developers or you as i spent 30 years in the software/development biz and yeah sometimes you have to regardless of the pain. however someone that just wants minor help in finding stuff quicker or easier or a working buffbot doesn't understand the struggle.

try explaining while release 3 plugins worked fairly stable, each new release just seems to add more features and bugs. it seems to outside observers that in the rush to get many new things added, stability of the plugins is taking a back seat. Four should have stablized all the errors encountered with 3 and then new features added to 5. but that's a personal opinion i guess not shared by many.

I don't think you're aware how many bugs ARE fixed between Alpha 5 and Alpha 3. Alpha 5 is by far the more stable release. You are aware that Alpha 3 crashes when your enchantments expire or you die? That it crashes when you're running Windows 2000? That HUDs use up absurd amounts of video memory in Alpha 3? I find it amusing that you say that you think we should focus on stabilising Alpha 3 code before adding anything -- what the hell do you think we're doing? Do you have ANY idea how many revisions of Alpha 5 we went through but found bugs that made the release not worthwhile?

No decal bar isn't OUR problem, it's ACDualClient. No dual logging while using Decal isn't our problem either -- how is a bug in ANOTHER third party utility our problem? Drakier may be a Decal developer, but the problem still lies in ACDualClient and it is IT that needs to be fixed. We have been aware of the bug and it WAS mentioned in the release notes. I'd also like to know how FindIt! or ElTank crashing is a Decal problem.

I think you are confusing plugin, 3rd party, and Decal development here. Decal development is entirely separate from plugin development and the development of utilities such as ACDualClient or QuickLaunch/ZoneLauncher. Every new version of Decal has many more bugs fixed than added. We are really adding a small number of features, almost allof our code is bug fixes. Plugins are another matter, as plugin devs often upgrade to the closed Decal Alpha candidates because a feature was added, and of course they don't have testers running the closed Alpha builds; they are unaware of what problems spring up until after they release the first editions of plugins that work fine for themselves.

In any case, us releasing a new version of Alpha 5 has absolutely nothing to do with Chazcon, and he has trolled us on multiple forums out of spite. Apparently we're supposed to be yelling at users -- when we actually help them out, it upsets him.

Contrary to what the squeaky wheels sound like, there is a hoarde of users out there that appreciate the work that goes into decal, and don't mind the bugs.

We are legion. Silent.

Thanks for your work. Some of us know what goes into something like this.

i was running alpha 3 since it first came out, till 2pm this afternoon when i upgraded to 5. with the exception of loading up 4 for about 2 hours and running into way too many findit issues in 4 to continue. of course i was mostly only running ad-dc and findit or at times ac-dc, findit or sortit and quest-timer and didn't have any buffs expire or death crashs at ever.

i'm not confusing decal 3 alpha 5 with plugins. as far as i know decal3 alpha 5 is rockstable, it's the plugins that are not quite ready for prime time.

reboot after installation and recall to a matron hive (buffed from before installation) arrive kill the first swarm and on the 3rd corpse i try to open bamb back to the desktop, restart open corpse again and back to the desk top.

so something is signifcantly worng with findit's handling of a monster corpse's inventory. I repeated this bug in 3 swarms and logged out as continuing with findit is viable. unfortunately will be tough t find out what is the problem cuase usually by the time you could turn off decal restart get back and attempt to find the same corpse that caused the problem it's gone.

yet findit alpha 5 was extensively tested ok so what is the crash i immediately tripped over several times within 5 minutes of running???????

that's the type of instability i'm talking about haz.
