Grats! did more than just send Grats! to the person who got the kill on the Aerlinthe Quest. I always enjoyed the tells to fellow chat when a member died:

"MAN DOWN! MEDIC!"

"We will build a statue in your honor."

"Can you grab me some tapers while you're visiting your LS?"

Does Drakier have to approve every plugin?

I think we have a decal ego problem!

Has nothing to do with Ego or Decal, nor does every plugin have to be approved either by me or anyone else.

I said that I PERSONALLY do not agree with a plugin to send automated spam to someone like that. I've been on the quests and got the kills, and the "grats" from everyone who is actually THERE was more than enough for me. I can only imagine adding more people who AREN'T there to the mix and getting a lot more messages than I'd like to personally receive. I didn't say that other people cannot disagree with me.

As far as approval goes, I generally have a pretty good idea on things that are and are not good/bad/damaging/etc.. while grats isn't a plugin that would kill the server or resource, I do think it can cause a lot of unwanted spam on the other end.. and you also have to remember that the person on the other end "receiving" the grats cannot filter them out or really do anything about them other than just wait it out. They don't have ano option to NOT be spammed if they want the kill. This can be annoying to a lot of people.

This is pretty comical. Someone connects saying Grats to UCM.

I admit that this is a stupid plugin, but not lets get crazy.

although I didn't meantion it earlier, I think a "grats" plugin can "cheapen" the experience as well. It's not just about getting a whole bunch of people sending you "grats" messages, but also knowing that each one of those people was actually online and SAW what you did in order to send you the "grats" message.

While generally this isn't a big thing, I think I'd feel much more rewarded knowing that each and every "grats" message I was sent was sent by someone personally who was ACTUALLY wishing my congratulations and not just someone who happened to be running a plugin.

I still say my feelings about the spam generated by a plugin however is the major reason why I disapprove of an automated spam plugin such as "Grats".

Exactly. I would prefer to be spammed by players who were actually happy for me in whatever I did instead of a meaningless automated response. My turn at the Lady was fun as I tried reading & responding to all the varied messages that came in after the global.

I agree. I think that Grats! is a pretty stupid idea, actually. If someone's UCM, it's better for them to just be quiet. It's not like by running an autoresponder people are going to actually think you're at the keyboard, which I'm sure was the original idea of Grats!.
